Running Games 1:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 471 (2006-2009)

Walk with my parents to the mall and back for breakfast.

Note

I still don't have full painless range of motion on my left ankle. Bleh.

Running warm up/down 2:30 [3] 0.3 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 471 (2006-2009)

Orienteering 42:06 [3] *** 4.4 km (9:34 / km) +85m 8:44 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2008-2009)

I don't have actual distance, I'll put that in later. I had an ok run, spiked everything except 8 and 9 (9 may have been mis-hung; the area around there wasn't mapped very well) and got a crippling sideache on the way to 13 (the go control) which cost me 2 minutes at least.

I bet the winning time is going to be around 36 minutes; we'll see who's in front of me.

I felt really good after leaving control 9, despite the fact I had bobbled 8 and 9, but it was really disappointing to have that all cut off by the sideache. I thought I was in better shape, but cest la vie. The first 5 or so controls I tried to push it but couldn't; I didn't have time to warm up (I got there and Mr. de Grys was like "Hey! You're starting in 15 minutes!" and I had to give Callie directions and go change. My legs also I think were really feeling the bike workout from the day before... biking needs to happen either at low intensity or more than 2 days before competitions, in the future, methinks.

Stretching/Yoga 10:00 [3]

I did some walking to cool down, but not really logable.

Biking (stationary) 24:00 [3]

On the stationary bike in the gym because it was fucking cold. 2 minutes of warm up (75 rpm, resistance 4) 18 minutes of harder riding (90 rpm, resistance 5) 4 minutes cooldown (75 rpm, resistance 3).

Running 7:16 [3] 1.0 mi (7:16 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2008-2009)

Ran a mile on the track so my running muscles wouldn't complain at the meet tomorrow after the bike ride. I didn't intend to go this fast... it was cold!

Stretching/Yoga 10:00 [3]

Strength - Upper Body 15 [3]

5 pullups
1 pullup with backpack and laptop case

Running 34:50 [3] 4.82 mi (7:14 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2008-2009)

Tempo Graveyard, then running around the middle school to find my brother. I took out the time I spent stopped.

Stretching/Yoga 10:00 [3]

Note

Skype training with Holly, Tori, Alison, and Eileen. I had to eat dinner with the family, so I missed part of it, but still had fun. (I had a bit of an unfair advantage anyways, having actually run on the course where we were supposed to be remembering stuff from...)

Note

Does anybody know where they keep the maps of the permanent course at Hamlin?

Also, for my grand Flying Pig scheme to work out, I need to get from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh, any ideas? Amtrak apparently can't help me (or their website is screwed up), and Andy isn't going.

Wednesday Jan 21, 2009 #

Note

I have 4 days worth of training to get off my watch. =/ Updates are forthcoming.

Running 24:05 [3] 2.96 mi (8:08 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline (2008-2009)

To hamlin, around baseball field, around shorcrest track x3, around baseball field, back home.

Stretching/Yoga 10:00 [3]

Note

As an aside, I'm interested to see what Gabe's DNF on day 1 of the Nav Cup will do to his ranking...
