Event: WMOC 2008

Orienteering 35:00 [2]****
shoes: VJ Falcon
WMOC model event at Pedreanes.

Nice to get out into the forest, did some controls with MC, first impressions are lovely runnable pine and that the veg screen is pretty vague, gives some idea of runnability and visibility, not necessarily definite enough to trust for navigation though.
Orienteering 25:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Falcon
More training in Pedreanes, headed off separately from MC to try some controls at nearer race pace. I was all over the pace when using rough compass and my ankle was pretty sore, could run but it was a distraction.
Orienteering 13:00 [3]****
shoes: Inov8
Changed my shoes and went out into terrain again to see if ankle any better in inov8s - it was slightly better, maybe will race in those instead. Plus some assistance from ibuprofen...

Note
(rest day)
Another one - late (9pm) at work as last day before heading to Portugal, plus anyway wouldn't want to run two days in a row on ankle yet - although it is not too bad after yesterday, still swelling in joint but def improving.

Running 35:36 [3]
shoes: new Brooks Adrenaline
Still pretty dubious about my ankle, still sore to the touch and some swelling but after a couple of days off it was time to give it another test so headed off round Leckie loop from home.

Ankle pretty stiff and sore on the first bit along the road, once my legs woke up and i found the running a bit easier, it eased off a bit too. Unsurprisingly it definitely felt better when off the hard surface, shame the first WMOC race (sprint qual) is all in a town!

Worth getting out though, loosened up the joint a bit and after icing immediately post-run seems a bit better if anything. Fingers crossed....

Note
(rest day)
Learned from the previous day and didn't waste time with the morning, woke up at 12.30pm just in time for breakfast in front of the Grand Prix.

Have been feeling worn out for weeks and trip for Jukola etc just about finished me off - hopefully a lazy weekend with lots of sleep will have sorted me out, looking to feel a bit more spritely than recently in my running next week, just in time for Portugal. Ankle always permitting of course....
