Rob’s 40th day two, Dodd Fell Hill from the accommodation. Got some wind and snow but also some unexpected sunshine.

Run part one - set off from Swarthgyll with a big group through the snow and slush and into the wind. Once on the Pennine Way, some kept going for a circuit, five of us (also MartinW, RobB, AndyP, AntS) pressed on through to Horton.
Where there was a pub with a fire and beer and soup and sandwiches....
....and then a train just up the valley to Ribblehead....

....where there was a pub with beer and warmth and the Ireland/Italy game....
...which we watched until halftime then back along the Dales Way to Swarthgyll.

As 25k in the day wasn't really in the Achilles rehab plan (!), thought some caution called for so walked the 2-3k steady climb around halfway along.

Back in time for England/Wales. A well planned day out!

Traded up to the long course for the first time this season. Hilly course showed me just how unfit I am though!
