trail run race 37:09 [5] 5.0 km (7:26 / km)
shoes: Inov8 O-roc 280 Red

Polar Bear 5K at Lancaster County Central Park
I've been meaning to try this one for a few years but never pre-registered, so on the actual morning I would end up unable to drag myself out of bed. Last night they had packet pickup at Dick's so I went over, registered, and paid to ensure that I would actually make the effort to go.

Nice course on familiar territory, though we did go across one trail I haven't ever used. (We have a map here, although this part of the park is not actually on the map for some reason, but I have hiked and run here.) It started on the road and after crossing the covered bridge the first time it was then mainly on trails. A few small hills and then one monster hill near the end that I knew was coming. I tried to run all the downhills and flats and walked up the hills. Everything was snow covered with some muddy patches. I wore spikes and that gave me perfect traction. I saw a lot of people slipping around or being very careful but didn't see anybody fall, although a lady in front of me at one point just about collided with the leader returning on a section of two-way trail.

Not a super fast time but given that it was trail instead of road and the conditions, I'll take it.
