Mt. Penn Antietam -- Green

Thursday Aug 22, 2002 #

hiking 33:30 [2] 2.0 mi (16:45 / mi)
(injured)

Light hiking at Nixon Park, Old Field and Geology trails. Saw lots of butterflies, a fox, and a doe. Right leg feels somewhat better, except on hills (both up and down). I don't intend to try running on it until Sunday.

map study 20:00 [1]
(injured)

My leg might be injured, but my mind isn't. (Although sometimes I feel as if I've lost it!) Examining Antietam map in mental prep for Sunday.

trail run 9:05 [3] 0.8 mi (11:22 / mi)
(injured)

Rudy Park XC. The weather is cool -- was feeling great and actually moving at a decent clip. Then...sudden, very bad pain in right leg. I don't know if it is muscle, bone, or what...the ankle looks swollen, but the pain is much farther up my leg. I bailed coming back through the start for the second loop. Going to rest this and see how it does. I don't want to risk not being able to run Sunday.

trail run 33:48 [3] 5.0 km (6:46 / km)

Rudy Park XC. Those dumbasses paved over yet ANOTHER part of the course. I swear there soon won't be any grass left. A little tired from my new work schedule, but it didn't slow me down at all. It just didn't make me faster either ;-)
