Note

After looking at the splits from yesterday (and knowing Brown had the same control as their #5) I feel a heck of a lot better about my struggle with #7. I was not alone.

DVOA White Clay Creek - Green

Kind of a miserable mess.

I haven't been feeling confident in the woods lately and it shows. It didn't help that this map is a) old and b) green.

The big problem today was 7. It would have helped if I had noticed that the new little upmapped trail segment on the course-setter's notes helped make a pretty reasonable route to this. Instead it looked to me like it was way out with a sea of green and ugly in between. So I went along the road (a pain, it was busy and there wasn't much shoulder, so I often had to step aside and wait for cars to pass) and then got confused by extra houses and entered the woods too early in a place that really didn't make any sense otherwise.

I realized that was wrong and came back out to go a little further, then essentially went right by 8, 9, and 10 (even saw 8) on the way to 7. I had to plow up and over a green hillside twice. I felt like I was going to miss and get mired in the green and that made me feel really anxious. I was really ready to quit but I pushed through it, somehow. It helped a little that I could hear (but not see) several other people thrashing through it with me.

Overall, I'm worried that the anxiety is going to be my undoing and then it's back to the meds. I'm not enjoying this much right now.
