Walked around this course as gently as possible ;-) and was rewarded with very little pain. It helped that there were plenty of wide, grassy trails and I didn't feel like there was anywhere near the advertised amount of climb (in fact, pretty much all of it seemed to be in one leg straight uphill)

Went NC since I didn't know what would happen, though apparently my score would have been about normal for this year anyway. Better to not be tempted to run, and also in case I would have had problems and DNF.

Even moving slowly I had one dunderheaded moment where I almost skipped control 4 (since you had to go past 5 to get to it, then come back almost the same way, I simply forgot I was only coming from 3 and started looking at the closest control) and another later where I took the wrong fork in a trail but not for very long.

Some very beautiful woods, small ponds, etc. and the weather was perfect with rain holding off until the drive home.

Oddly, what seems to be working has involved logging both the most hours and miles of any week this year. More exercise, lower intensity.

Too many errands to get to a park before dark, and didn't feel like doing three loops of my neighborhood, so I crossed over the footpath by the pond to the next neighborhood. They actually have sidewalks over there which is nice.

The longer walk definitely does something - I start out ok, come to a point where my left butt muscles feel tight and the nerve hurts the whole way down the leg, but then everything loosens up and feels better and the pain goes away.

I tried to go to a park after work to do another longer walk, but as I was heading out there were a few drips of rain. I checked the radar on my phone at about the half mile mark and saw a huge green and yellow blob headed my way. Oops. It started raining pretty good on the way back so I actually jogged a little. I am going to be way out of shape, that much is for sure :-(

So I added this later.
