C25K - Week 1, Day 2 (again)

Overlook

Distance seems a bit low, I think GPS didn't lock on right away. Trying to run too many apps at once.

Didn't feel like driving all the way to NJ this weekend, in between two weekends of A-meet trips.

C25K - Week 1, Day 1 (again)

Dorwart Park on a mix of gravel, grass, and dirt trails.

I did notice that unfortunately the construction area for the new Wegmans (which I am, however, looking forward to) backs right up to the park on the other side of the creek. The dirt trail no longer feels somewhat secluded.

This is starting to feel easier :) and so far the much slower build approach means I haven't injured myself. Plan to move on to week 2 at the end of the month, when all the big events are done.

Flying Pig XXI Sprint 1 - Downtown Columbus - Red (F-21+)

Fantastic fun! Although had a stupid mistake to the very first control, going to the wrong side of the pond/building as if I could run through it.... nope. I was a bit distracted by this area as it resembled a place I dreamt about orienteering in long, long ago before sprints were even really a thing.

After that got into a nice groove, running much more than I thought my tired legs could handle. Some really cool control locations inside a parking garage, in neat alcoves, and one behind a church where through a skinny window filled with palms I could see the minister preaching from a very high pulpit. And of course, one control at a restaurant called the Savory Swine!

I think this one passes Arnprior, Morehead, and Indiana University as my favorite sprint of all time.
10 AM

orienteering race 31:41 [5] *** 2.9 km (10:56 / km)

Flying Pig XXI Sprint 2 - Mill Race Park - Red (F-21+)

Absolutely nothing left in my legs after the first race. The most I could do was summon up a lame trot at times, and somehow generated a little bit of run for the last few controls and the run-in. Another cool little park with features like a covered bridge, dock, train tracks to pass under, etc.

Since routes were more direct, it appears I was almost as fast on this sprint, but that is far from the truth.

Super fun weekend of races!
