Missing Radnor this year, which was initially given this date and then cancelled a few months ago without registration ever opening. No explanation given so I hope it's back in the future. I didn't feel physically great today so it might have been a struggle anyway.
It apparently rained all night, and was still raining when I woke up, and eventually I realized it probably wasn't going to stop so I resigned myself to epic bike adventures in the rain. I had looked last night for a trail that was paved and not likely to not be flooded and settled on the 202 Parkway trail near Doylestown. So I loaded up and off I went.
It rained, sometimes heavily, the entire way there and stopped just as I was arriving. I parked at a trailhead about 1/3 of the way into the trail - it was deserted except for me - and first went toward the western end. Oof. Some hills right away and more road crossings than I like, all of which were very busy and definitely required dismounting. Reached the end of the trail, turned around, went back past the parking area and continued to the east.
More hills, more crossings, some of which required crossing in two directions. On the longer uphills my legs felt like spaghetti and I was just getting slower and slower. Not sure if I was just lacking energy or maybe my tire pressure is low or something else is wrong but at times it felt like I was pedaling through Jello. At the intersection where I had to wait longest for a light, I was catcalled by two creeps in a box truck for what felt like several minutes despite giving zero attention or acknowledgement (in fact I'm not entirely sure it was two people since I never looked at them, though it sounded like two voices).
At the far end the trail met up with trails in Doylestown Central Park, so I took a quick spin through there, then back out to the main trail to return.
Overall, too urban for my liking, no cool features, pretty hilly, and there were creeps, but hey at least it didn't rain while I was out. It started again on the drive home and has continued.
Noticed I'm at most annual logged training miles ever - and it's only August.
