My doctor's office still didn't have the x-rays yesterday (after a whole week) so I called radiology and they faxed them over again. Apparently for some reason they didn't go the first time. So she called tonight and said the verdict is degenerative changes in L5 and L6. It wasn't until after she hung up that I remembered that it's only supposed to go up to L5, so I'll have to check with the PT doc next week, but I might have an extra vertebrae. Apparently about 10% of people do.

DVOA Crow's Nest - Long White

So, I wasn't totally sure about this but I needed to do something outside and figured I could bail if it was painful. This event was originally scheduled as full courses and then changed to beginner training with a shorter and longer white, with the courses open to all.

With the heat, this was plenty and while all controls were white level there were a few routes that were really more advanced and some areas where trails, especially the mown ones, didn't match up with the map. I managed to walk around the whole course, not make any errors, and not trip or otherwise jolt myself.

A week ago I was struggling to walk half a mile, so I'd call this a win and obvious sign of improvement.

After the event I went to St. Peter's Bakery for lunch and sat on the back patio listening to live music from the inn next door. I feel mentally much better after this day.

Tried to go to the flat and shady rail trail, but the highway entrance was blocked by an accident. Then after looping around the back way, I realized there was an event at the big sports center that makes it a pain to get into the trail parking area. Rolled on over to Dorwart Park as most of the trails are shaded.

This was reasonable. My right foot didn't get tingly at all. On the dirt section of path down by the creek, I tried jogging a few steps three times and that was ok. I was mostly interested in whether the mechanics would work... last week the calf was such a mess that I couldn't stand on my toes or push off into a running stride. So that was an improvement as well. Will probably attempt walking around a white at Crow's Nest tomorrow (white is the only course available). I would rather be having a bike adventure but I'll save that for after talking to the PT doc.

Seemed ok, maybe even helpful.
