McKaig Night-O - Red

Fun night-o set by Chris Hand. This is a small park surrounded by neighborhoods which makes it a good night-o spot for beginners especially, but there's enough here to still make a decent course for higher levels. I had one or two not so great route choices where I stuck too much on trails and added a little distance. About halfway through the course (in the fenced in tennis court on the estate part) were some rubber chickens you could "rescue" and bring back through the course to finish for a free slice of pizza. I was the only one to rescue a chicken.

That's basically it for the weekend.... DVOA event cancelled for tomorrow and I'm not going to drive to DC in an ice storm. (And I didn't preregister. And I probably would not have driven to DE either, anyway.)

Since there were no really close events this weekend, Sam streamered a Stumble-style course at Governor Dick as a training exercise and invited some people to come. Surprisingly, we woke up to unpredicted snow and there was an inch or two on the ground plus a lot of wet snow falling out of the trees.

There were several distance variations available using subsets of the controls, and I decided to do one of the shorter ones (Short West). This involved the same first control as everyone, a window of 4 controls, another single control, a window with 5 controls, and back to the first control again before finishing. The different lengths sometimes had different controls before/after windows, so there was a lot of variation in the order chosen.

My window choices were DBCA, GFEIH.

Total length of 6.36 km by Garmin.
