Hung some controls for the A-Meet. Good time, good courses. I would like to hear from some people running the advanced courses to see their perspective. Time includes hanging the actual control.

Had a nice run from my last point to our exfiltration point. Long and quick.

Felt really good and quick at map reading overall, one mess up though.

spiked:26/29c shoes: O Shoes

Nice course, good spectator controls coupled with technical terrain. some route choice problems that slowed me down but a little safer.

ahr:181 max:193 spiked:12/14c shoes: O Shoes
Race Stats: 4.59km, 150M, 1:10000, 5M
The ROC middle distance US champs was a good race

Technical and lots of elevation all at once.

Good course all together

I was not expecting to do as well as I did with how I was feeling from two error controls.
Orienteering race (ROC Sprint) 15:33 [5] *** 2.6 km (5:59 / km)
spiked:13/14c shoes: O Shoes
Garmin stopped working so no actual measurements

Good start but I launched wrong going to 4. somewhere around 1-2min error.

Good use of terrain, all was pretty good.
Liked the course

One piece of information: point 9 had two different e-punch boxes with different numbers. Didn't like that but I informed the e-punch crew.

ahr:167 max:183 spiked:12/12c shoes: New Balance 2
Took the course a little slow. Ended up not feeling very good near the end but my navigation was perfect.

I was a little tired on some of the hills and I slipped a little bit but it was pretty good. I think I could have gone a little faster had slightly better route choices but I needed to feel a little better.

My knee wasn't bothering me so hopefully it is gone.
PE Class (Boxing) 55:00 [3]
Reviewed crosses.

Really learned that southpaws and conventional fighters do not get along with crosses.

Tuesday Apr 15

Billygoat XXX- 13050M 500+M elevation, 1:10000, 5M. Clear Lake Scout Reservation, Mass Start, Following, skip one control.

Good race, did some following, navigation, and it was pretty fun. Ended up not skipping any points because I saved my skip for the last control but I fell hit my knee and had to wait for a second for the pain to waiver. Ross Smith got away so I saw no reason to skip last control when I was in no race with anyone.

My knee now has a pretty good bump on it, we will see what happens to it tomorrow, ibuprofen has been used.

Trail run and then cross country run until 1750. Went out and felt sore, tight and drained in the legs. Felt pretty good respiratory wise.

Legs cramped up for a little bit.

Also did some cross-country running as well.

Used the time as map reading on the run. Planned some routes, enjoyed the scenery.

ahr:159 max:177 shoes: New Balance
Attended Scout clinic info meeting.

Ran to Washington then to Lee and back.

Did sit-ups and push-ups at the end.

Orienteering (Practice Course) 51:10 [2] *** 0.65 km (1:18:29 / km) +527m 15:34 / km
ahr:159 max:174 spiked:8/9c shoes: New Balance
Took the course pretty easy because of giving blood yesterday. Felt the lack of blood throughout my workout and it was probably good for me to work out.

Little bit of a faster course than what it was designed.

Also did inclined Sit-ups and Push-ups after course

Sunday Apr 6

Orienteering race (Ultralong-Red) 2:18:52 [5] *** 17.96 km (7:44 / km) +1732m 5:13 / km
ahr:169 max:182 spiked:19/20c shoes: O Shoes
Red 13.2KM 395M Elevation, 1:15000, 5M 20 controls

started slow to get in touch with map. Felt pretty good. Good course on route choices and technicality.

Did not like that fences were not really there on the map in many parts. Also the water level messed me up.

My only real error was on point 15. Reasons: Fatigue, Not reading compass, drifting north, and Water level.

I thought E-W trail was N-S trail. because of projected exit and water level in distance. Stupid mistake that took a while to correct cost me 1st place.

Good preparation for the Billygoat.

Red - Ultra Long - Splits

Saturday Apr 5

Orienteering race (Sprint 1) 15:40 [5] *** 3.58 km (4:23 / km) +220m 3:21 / km
spiked:17/17c shoes: New Balance 2

ahr:183 max:193 spiked:12/14c shoes: O Shoes
Course 3: 2.7KM 70M, 14 Controls

Started well, 6 and 12 were good discriminators. Parallel error on 12, 1:45 error, 10, wrong launch out from 9.

Good race overall, got tired, not recovered well enough from morning.

Short Pig - Red, 20 Controls, 4.3km 150M elevation.
1:10000 3M contour WRE course for F21

Took the first few really easy to get feel the map, lots of green and not sure what it exactly represents. Was not able to do the model course. Chose safe routes and did well.

Very muddy, Very wet.

Ended up ahead of Samantha Saeger and Gabriel Svobodny. Not sure who was top of red but I was close to top.

Messed up one control by aiming too far left, caught myself by terrain and distance.

Felt like a long sprint (Not as technical as I was expecting) but was still great

Red - Short Pig/WRE - Splits

Ran a course, Gaiters recommended, possibly spiked shoes in certain areas. Good course, technical, Perfect Goal win time,

Felt like I was going a little slow, sped up throughout.

Saw Caston right after his Garmin casp broke and tumbled into the leaves. Helped him find it (Morally support mostly) did not record time into total.

Tuesday Apr 1

Physical (Long Run) 53:31 [3] 9.2 km (5:49 / km) +514m 4:33 / km

Nice, Pretty easy about 10 KM run in Round Pond and Black Rock Forrest Area. Took it really easy because I was a little bit sore and not feeing great.

A little bit muddy in certain places. Not too bad though.

Found and returned Freeman's whistle on the run.
