Orienteering race (Long) 3:09:21 [5] ***** 17.62 km (10:45 / km) +1775m 7:09 / km
spiked:11/17c shoes: O Shoes
13.2KM 210M, 1:15000, 5M, 25 Controls

This course was rough. Started out cautious but apparently not enough. I ended up with a big error right off the bat. was pretty clean for a while. One control where there was a lot of problem I went though due some use of some foreigners which assisted my map reading. used a gel at the water point which helped a little bit but another problem arose.

The outside tendon? of the right knee began hurting and then soon enough my knee would not allow running for much of any at all. Later on in the race my knee hurt so much it was the ultimate factor in my decision in the course.

Attempted to find 17 for a long long time (around 50 minutes) Ended up ultimately DNFing because of my knee's immense pain. After much map study I think I have discovered my problem but I can not confirm until I use Otrack. If I believe where I was is correct, the map (personally) was not correct.

Officially I was listed as OT because I came in over 3 hrs.

In the mens race there were 3 DNS, 3 DNF, 4 OT, and 10 MP

I have a lot of catering to do for my knee. Lets hope it feels better soon!

Orienteering (Model Long) 47:42 [3] *** 6.07 km (7:51 / km) +770m 4:49 / km
ahr:148 max:171 shoes: O Shoes
Long training for model at WUOC. Good practice but there is so much inconsistency in the rough open yellow. Pretty good and fun.

The terrain here is much more runnable overall compared to Sweden. I really like it. There was some area where it was about the same and a little less.

Ran onto some WWI/WWII style foxholes and trenches. They looked pretty cool and were good pieces of history.

Sprint tomorrow which is going to be fun!

Sprint model event made by Hilly. Went out with Sam, Hilly, Anna, and Lori. Nice map, a few places where I went through an "uncrossable" wall.

Totally skipped one point (didn't include in course accidentally)

Physical (Short Run) 18:00 [2] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider
Went out for a short run, flirty, a little up and around to make it weird and loopy

The raspberries are out and tasting good.

I decided to run through the woods for a second, scared up a deer that went running toward some raspberry pickers and barely went around them... oops...

Did an APFT for air assault school. went for about 80pt value on the first two events, then did an 11:50(PR) on the run.

Ran it with MAJ Campbell and he gave some advise on it afterward.

Wednesday Jul 9

Physical (Run) 34:02 [3] 5.91 km (5:46 / km) +601m 3:49 / km
ahr:157 max:178 shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider
Went out for a run in the middle of the day. (Hot and Really sweaty) Good run but I was not really feeling too strong during any of it. I know the hill didn't help but I was a little slow and weak feeling. Airborne school was not kind to my endurance fitness. I guess I will just have some work cut out for me until August.

Tuesday Jul 8

Orienteering (Middle Course Recon) 1:39:15 [2] 10.36 km (9:35 / km) +1050m 6:21 / km

Recon on the Ski slope with a work in progress new map. Finalized a finish plan, finish location

Sunday Jul 6

Orienteering (Relay) 1:35:20 [3]
First, give us more space on the start line
Second, They are brutal, hitting people all the time.

First few controls were pretty good, with the pack. Ended up getting off on map reading and stopped a ridge early so that HUGE error cost my team everything. I slowly continued the race and caught up to a few teams in front of me that had problems later on.

Not the exact map but its the main point

Saturday Jul 5

Orienteering race (Long) 2:12:04 [5] 10.2 km (12:57 / km) +400m 10:50 / km
shoes: O Shoes
One of the last starts again, started safe, few problems but I chose for safe orienteering instead of fast. Multiple short mistakes and a few huge ones.

"That course was F***ing brutal."

The woods are not like normal woods but are horrible to run in.

Thursday Jul 3

Wednesday Jul 2

Orienteering race (Middle Qual) 57:28 [4] 3.9 km (14:44 / km) +220m 11:30 / km
shoes: O Shoes
Started cautious but was bumbled right off the bad. Not sure what trails were compared to on the ground. Figured it out, started doing better but ended up with a few mistakes. Getting more confident in orienteering in Europe. Poor results again today
