| Event: Fair Hill 6 Hour Rogaine | ||
| Orienteering race (Fair Hill Rogaine) 5:55:00 [5] *** 42.5 km (8:21 / km) +3055m 6:09 / km | ||
| shoes: Asics Trail | ||
| Started the Fair Hill Rogaine. Never did a rogaine so I wasn't sure what to expect. Paired up with MAJ Jon Campbell. We ended up winning the male team as well as overall. We were hurting a bit but we kept going.
Food, plan, and the stream were all quite nice. It was a great race and it was a great time. Our plan was MAJ Campbell on route choice to attack, me from attack to control. We checked each other throughout and made sure. I am ready to not run for a little while Longest/Farthest I have ever run at one time. Especially with a boost from just around 6km normal runs.

| Was Dan's Course timer and Punch Key maker. It was really easy and wasn't a bad course. There was one point that was decently difficult that threw off a whole lot of people.
There are some really good prospects for the team, I am really happy on our results so far. Same thing Tuesday except I also do control pickup

| Ran a just late kid up to try outs and then I stuck around and talked with Dan. I suggested I start following someone and he gave me a mark. I started with him (Apparently he talked himself up really good) I stopped after he took a long time to do 1 point that was a 25 second point. Came back and followed another.
There are some good prospects and a lot should be found in the last two days. there were about 30-50 people at tryouts. I pulled 7 points on the score course today and I had a problem finding one of them. I actually never found it. I linked up with Pettit who said he hadn't gotten it and then I talked to a newbie that has orienteered before (John Klaben) and asked him what he thought. (None of the team had ran it). I went back up there and used my intel and found the bag. It was not on the right place but on another knoll/hilltop combination. Informed Dan to figure out what to do. I have been tasked with checking the courses for the next two days.

| For tryouts we had want-a-be's team up with a returning member and run though just to get into what a map is. I got Mike Rodriguez and John Klaben. I had them switch off points and added some stipulations to make it a little bit harder.
The course was pretty easy overall for them, there were a few good ones and there was some learning going on. I used this time to try to improve their ability that they already have to see how receptive they are as well as how much they start to improve. It was working nicely for what we had, I won't be able to tell the results for some time.
