National Orienteering Day! Hurrah! (Course 3, Woodland Park)

I came out of the start rather distracted, and sort of ran off without paying attention or planning, and it took me forever to get back on track to get the first control. The course was quite fun, but I decided that I didn't feel like racing today, so I used the opportunity to take slower-but-more-exciting routes and practice things that I'm not so good at doing - paying attention to contour detail, checking things off, climbing up steep hills, changing pace around, paying closer attention to the area right around/in the circle etc.

After failing to recruit any Lakesiders, I brought my mother with me. She beat me by a minute. :D

All the points were on the ground or very close to it, so it wasn't always easy to find things from even a couple meters away. Certainly made things more interesting.

Jogging only bothered my right shoulder a little bit, and climbing over a couple of small things didn't seem to be an issue.

No wildlife worth counting
