Event: JK 2009

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Street race) 18:30 [5] ***** 2.5 km (7:24 / km)

JK Sprint.

Did ok, made a few mistakes losing a few seconds each time, but went to 9# before 10# and got really confused losing about 30secs at least. Happy with it since i wasnt too far behind.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Running intervals 20:00 [5] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)

5 x 800m did them in an average of about 2:40, not very quick but i was feeling a bit ill and it was really windy on the back straight. Looking forward to the JK, especially the relays cos im on last leg.

Orienteering race (Selection Race) 1:14:00 [5] ***** 5.2 km (14:14 / km) +250m 11:28 / km

Did rubbish: came last out of the M16s. Pretty gutted since i had an ok run apart from 5#.

Controls 1 and 2 were good (I even beat jonny on those).
3# was up a massive hill so i walked most of it but spiked it when i got there (lost about a min on the fastest)
4#I came out of the control too high so had to drop down but hit it dead on which was kind of nice.
5# Followed the stream down the hill and over the fence. But then nothing seemed to fit ended up going north out to the fence and trying to relocate of that, but when i came back in i managed to lose contact with the map again. Then i was getting desperate so i headed out to the wall and followed it around till i hit the path. I then followed the path back in and only just found it: I really couldn't fit the map to the ground, it just didn't work. Eventually found it, I was so annoyed. Lost around 25 mins on this leg alone so didn't stand any chance of doing well after that.
6# Came out too fast since i was still fuming, ran straight passed the wall (my attackpoint) and only realised when i didn't recognise that bit of the path from before.
Everything else went ok but i wasn't going full speed since i realised i was not going to do well and i might as well save myself for next weekend.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Orienteering race (Race 1) 13:50 [5] **** 2.5 km (5:32 / km)

Started off fast, made only a few tiny errors but I'm still not sure about the route choice leg. Was running fast but was getting really tired at the end. I won!!!!!!

Orienteering race (Race 2) 14:00 [5] *** 2.5 km (5:36 / km)

Started last since i won the first one. Managed to pick up the bag of maps instead of just mine so lost 5 secs before i started. Saw graham from 2# so ran towards him but he was coming out of 4#, realized just before i got to the control and had to go back (lost about 30 secs). Made no other major mistakes apart from a route choice error to the last control but felt tired and was running slow. Came 2nd behind Chris Young by 30 secs, but i won overall!
