Thursday Dec 27

Note
(sick) (rest day)
Still streaming...!

Wednesday Dec 26

Note
weight:60.8kg (sick) (rest day)
Working my way through a box of Kleenex...!

Tuesday Dec 25

Run 48:00 [3] 5 km (9:36 / km)
shoes: Walsh
Christmas Day run up Dumyat with loadsafolk, can't believe how popular it is! Felt awful on the uphill due to onset of a heavy cold (spoke too soon) but enjoyed the run down over the nobbly bits over the back of the hill after a wee bevvy at the top - what was that? Team photo to go on FVO website later.

Monday Dec 24

Note
(rest day)
Hurrah! Feel better today - rest days have paid off. Looking forward to run up Dumyat tomorrow.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Sunday Dec 23

Note
(sick) (rest day)
Had sister and family staying and as a consequence of having a sore throat (glands up) and listening to my sister coughing her head off all day, I thought I'd better not tempt fate by going for a run. Sensible not lazy.

Saturday Dec 22

Note
(sick) (rest day)
A whole day at home for the first time in months, feeling rubbish with a sore throat and just in time for the holidays! Have drunk gallons of fruit juice cocktails.

Wednesday Dec 19

Night Orienteering race (Street O) 45:00 [4] 5.5 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: Saucony Triumph
Christmas Street O complete with festive gear round the streets of Dunblane, santa suits and reindeer headwear were the most popular choice - much to the surprise of some locals! Louise and I ended up running together due to lack of battery charge in her headtorch. We ended up off the map and had to ask a dog walker how to get out of the housing estate that we ended up in - whoops! The course was NOT 4.2km, reckon more like 8km. DNF owing to time constraints.
C • Wrong housing estate 3

Sunday Dec 16

Run (Terrain) 1:44:09 [4] 14 km (7:26 / km)
shoes: Walsh
Terrain run with FVO in woods above Dunblane. Got off to a slow start and Jason was not joking when he said it was a terrain run as it was loops through the trees, although there were a lot less loops for me as I was bringing up the rear as per usual. I was sent on ahead but managed to go completely the wrong way (90 degrees wrong but did see a fox run past), thankfully I worked out where I was on the map and arrived at the reservoir just before Jon, Ross and Jason. Did more loops (pretty much ran around in circles) in the nice bits of wood before I saw the guys again, headed back up the hill and the guys went off to do their thing. By this point I was feeling pretty good and decided to keep going and head further up to the monument and down again, but missed the tiny path down hill and ended up on another wee donder round another loop through the woods. Pheeeeeeeew! Arrived back safely before any search party had to be organised and to a lovely bowl of Janine's soup and half of one of Louise's yummy muffins.

Friday Dec 14

Note
Another rest day: spent attending the Whoopsadaisy Angel Nativity Play (excellent entertainment value) and coffee morning. Had a mince pie, thanks Rona, it was naughty but nice!
Fitball 30:00 [1]
shoes: Bare feet
The choice for Friday evening's entertainment was writing Christmas cards or bouncing around on my big squashy ball whilst watching Qi. Guess what? The ball won... and unbelievably the living room is still in tact due to a last minute body swerve! Phew! Cards still waiting...

Thursday Dec 13

Note
Rest day - spent most of the day resisting the temptation to have chocolates from the two large tins sitting next to my desk (as well as doing some work of course). Feel like I must have inhaled them as I'm having a 'fat' day.

Wednesday Dec 12

Night Orienteering race (Night) 1:02:28 [4] 4 km (15:37 / km)
shoes: Walsh
Set off at a comfortable pace and found myself ahead of people I shouldn't have been - what were they doing out there? Faffed at control 5, Beccy caught me and then it all went horribly wrong - ended up at 8 rather than 7 (lost ~5mins). When I eventually got to 7 I met up with Angela, she was going to give up but I persuaded her to finish and we teamed up for moral support... I got ahead on the downhill and all I could hear was "Alison, wait for me..."! (There are some things you think you will never hear in your life time and that was one of them, but ok she had just run the Everest marathon and didn't have the luxury of a big headtorch). I then lost the plot completely due to lack of concentration and messed up the next two controls. Angela sped off past me on the street section (and so did Hazel on the long course) but I caught her up looking for the controls! I didn't have a hope keeping up with Angela on the run in and anyway, someone had to be last but I didn't mind in the least because I loved every minute of the race! Sometimes it's not about the winning...
Lessons to be learned are:
1. Don't be put off by other people on a race.
2. Stop talking to people whilst on a race.
3. Do more training.
4. Concentrate.
5. Read the map.

Tuesday Dec 11

Note
Skidded in the car on some ice and calf went into cramp - agony! Sat for 5mins before able to drive. Far too much lactic acid in there still...

Monday Dec 10

Note
weight:61kg
Going the right way... 6lbs to go! This has to be the worst time of year to be on a diet. No Christmas pud for me thanks.
Note
Rest day, sat down at work all day... Calves still feel very tight but almost calmed down now.

Sunday Dec 9

Note
Rest day - phew!

Saturday Dec 8

Run (Terrain) 46:51 [4] 7 km (6:42 / km)
weight:61.7kg shoes: Saucony Triumph
Run along the river and canal in the cold rain (3 degrees - brrrrrr) to fetch my car from the station. Legs very heavy and tired. Very muddy and slippery on the river path.

Friday Dec 7

Salsa (Social) 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Dancing Shoes
Work team outing in Edinburgh. Ended up in salsa club and gave it the full effort on the dance floor - excellent fun.

Thursday Dec 6

Yoga 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Bare feet
This activity pretty much finished me off! Managed to fall asleep and woke up not knowing which way round I was - weird.

Wednesday Dec 5

Triathlon (Mini) 1:25:32 [5] 19.8 km (4:19 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni
400m swim (10.38), 15.2km cycle (46.14) and 4.2km run (28.42). Paced myself well on the swim and the bike was ok but too slow. Bum and thighs were agony when I started the run but dug in and kept going. Chuffed to bits that I did it and didn't collapse in a heap at the finish.
Pilates 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Bare feet
Far too sore to do it properly!
Tennis 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Omni
Fun game of tennis with Kate, Ross and Jon. Kate was the star player of the matches although she had an advantage as she'd had some sneaky lessons earlier in the week! The major challenge afterwards was to retrieve a ball, which had lodged on a 12ft wall, this involved some acrobatic antics - honestly the lengths you have to go to to get a ball back!

Tuesday Dec 4

Run hills (Terrain) 1:52:00 [3] 13 km (8:37 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni
Wow! Pre- breakfast long slow run up the volcano. Scary holding onto the side and scrambling up to the top but absolutely worth it. Not every day you get to mince down a volcano - fantastic.
Body Toning 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Omni
Orienteering race (Street O) 16:34 [5] 1.7 km (9:45 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni
Street O style orienteering round La Santa complex much to the amusement of passers by! Almost came to grief running through the pool bar and just stopped in time to let a waitress deliver two large plates of food! Slipped on the "lawn" and gave myself a nasty bruise to add to the collection. Quite a few blunders and hesitations but altogether an ok result!

Monday Dec 3

Cycling race (Road bike) 45:00 [4] 15 km (3:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni
Duathlon team with Lou. 2nd place team. I was crap on the bike, Louise excelled herself and over-took Kate on the track in a race for the finish - good effort.
Stretch and Relax 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Saucony Omni
Aquathlon (Swim/Run) 23:44 [5]
shoes: Saucony Omni
200m swim (5.13), 3km run (18.32). Not fast enough in the pool but tried hard on the run. Loved this race - brill.
Body Toning 1:00:00 [2]

Sunday Dec 2

Run 18:41 [3] 3 km (6:14 / km)
Ran a bit slower this morning, felt a bit tired.
Cycling (Road bike) 45:00 [4] 15 km (3:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni
Reccy outing on bike. That hill is still a killer!
Swimming 10:00 [4] 1 km (10:00 / km)
Faster pace swim to get into gear for the aquathalon.
Fitball 1:00:00 [2]

Saturday Dec 1

Body Toning (Aerobics + weights) 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Omni
Boot camp! Ooof that hurt.
Rowing machine 5:00 [3] 1.2 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni
Wee burn on the machine. Great hangover cure!!
Swimming 20:00 [4] 1.2 km (16:40 / km)
Lovely swim outdoors in the dark - bliss.
