Saturday Jul 26

Run 47:32 [3]
shoes: Brooks GTS
Run with Claire from Lagganlia and through Inchriach on paths and some terrain.
Mountain Biking 2:05:00 [3]
shoes: Specialized Bike Shoes
Fantastic bike ride from Lagganlia, around Loch an Eilan and through Rothiemurchus to the Cairngorm Club Footbridge and back. The sun was shining through the trees and the scenery was magical - this is definitely my favourite place in the whole wide world.

Friday Jul 25

Mountain Biking 30:00 [3]
shoes: Specialized Bike Shoes
Pre-lunch tootle on bikes round Inchriach from Lagganlia with Claire.
Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Specialized Bike Shoes
Post-lunch bike ride from Lagganlia to Loch an Eilan. Had to push the bikes through bogs, across rivers and through trees to get onto the track we wanted - a bit silly but it was fun! Had to hoof it back back along the road as we were late for dinner at Loch Inch with the coaches...!
Note
Joined Claire at Lagganlia as assistant cook for the weekend for the Start BOF Junior Tour.

Thursday Jul 24

Run 38:53 [3] 6.25 km (6:13 / km)
shoes: Brooks GTS
Run from home round Linlithgow Loch. Lovely evening, seemed a shame not to make the most of it. Found another place to do some intervals, which I might get around to one day...

Run race 47:54 [5] 5 km (9:35 / km) +350m 7:06 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw
Bog and Burn Hill Race - Turnhouse, Flotterstone. I felt the 'Burn' on that one, the hill seemed to get steeper and steeper until my calves felt like they were going to explode. Tried walking up sideways, which helped a little. My muscles in my calves cramped a bit on the steep descent, but it wasn't too serious. The best bit was being able to push myself hard on the last couple of km on the level and downhill. I got a lovely welcome from Hazel and Martin at the finish. I enjoyed this one despite being last - but that doesn't matter too much, it's the taking part that counts!

Run at Beecraigs with Peggy. Added Witch Hill to the South and found some new paths in the woods.

Sunday Jul 20

Walk 4:15:00 [3] 12.3 km (20:44 / km) +943m 14:59 / km
shoes: Hiking Boots
Beccy, Brad with Jamie in the backpack and I climbed Ben Vorlich in Arrochar Alps and had a great day out. Our route up to the summit turned out to be a bit tougher than it could have been because nobody had studied the route in the Munro book before setting off and so we missed the muddy path leading off the road up the ridge to the summit, although we did stand at it and deliberate for a moment or two before dismissing it. Instead we headed for the foot of the dam and from there straight to the summit on a 1 in 2 gradient with a bit of a scramble - steep! Ben Vorlich is one of those blind summit mountains and so every slope had a wee surprise at the top. Of course the reward at the top was fantastic, open views 360 degrees round Scotland - absolutely worth it.
