Orienteering race 1:00:00 [4] 5.4 km (11:07 / km)
shoes: Brooks GTS
WEE - Laigh Hills, Dunblane

Had that sinking feeling that it was not going to be a successful evening of O, firstly as I was merrily driving along the M9 and oh bugger, I forgot my money. Roger gave me a loan of some pocket money and allowed me to go out Oing... What a horrible soggy night though! I had diificulty marking up my map and set off wondering if my map would survive - it didn't of course, after #5 I laid it down on the pavement and attempted to piece it together - it was indeed a gonner! Met JonX and David N running the other way and tagged on to David for the rest of the course, I was saved! Not sure how long I ran for, need to check the time.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]
Worked harder today as we advanced through the levels. Hamstrings are very tight - I could tell because my legs were hovering at 45 degrees rather than 90!

Sunday Sep 7

Event: SOL 4

Orienteering race (Shadowing) 21:38 [2] *** 2 km (10:49 / km) +50m 9:37 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw
SOL4 Loch Vaa

White course shadowing Andrew. For a wee boy who didn't want to go in the first place he did extremely well and was reading the map like a pro! I am well chuffed.

Erica went on her own and faltered at 7 where the control wasn't visible from the track, she came back and made it round without getting totally lost but she did have a tumble after tripping over a rabbit hole... hmm wonder where she gets that from?
Run warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw
Janine, a vision in blue, popped out of the woods in front of me on the way to the start. We were both late so we had to run, just made it with a few minutes to spare.
Orienteering race 1:21:40 [4] **** 5.9 km (13:51 / km) +140m 12:22 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! I was so careful to the first two that enabled me to blow the third by a considerable margin - about ten minutes! What was I thinking of? Was ok on the next loop but didn't seem to get into the course after that at all, the heather made the long legs feel a lot longer than they were and I hesitated in the vagueness of the surroundings on a few occasions. Number 10 was in the wrong place and I lost a bit of time there too. In general I suffered from some really scrappy compass work, which I'm never very good at anyway and once I knew I'd blown it I guess I just lost the will! Roll on the technique training...
