Note
(rest day)
A busy rest day spent at Edinburgh Zoo!

Friday Sep 19

Run 44:20 [3]
shoes: Walsh
Gentle run at Beecraigs, it was a lovely morning for splashing through the mud and sliding down the trails. Only the wee birdies for company but did pass a couple of ladies walking their doggies.

Wednesday Sep 17

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]
Worked on hamstrings and sides.
Run 1:03:00 [4]
shoes: Walsh
Run with FVO posse from Comrie led by Cathy, our hostess for the evening. Turned out a wee bit dark towards the end but was a splendid run in the country. I faded on the hills as usual, must do more hill practise...

Fabby soup and bread and puddings for afters.

Tuesday Sep 16

Note
(rest day)
Count down to the next 10K on Sunday, washed my shoes in preparation - they were minging after Laigh Hills. Can I beat my PB?

Sunday Sep 14

Event: Stirling 10k

Run race 54:00 [5] 10 km (5:24 / km) vdot: 36.5
shoes: Brooks GTS
Stirling 10K

I woke up feeling strangely nervous about this race, don't know why as it wasn't like I was going to get lost! I calmed down when I saw Susan and Penny and used up some nervous energy on a wee warm up with Penny and Elle.

It was all a bit close up and personal in the waiting area before the race as I was sandwiched between two blokes, thought I would extract myself as I was bound to slow at least one of them down when the race started. Elle and I set off together and were pretty close on the first 1K but I knew she would be faster so I settled down into my own pace. I missed the 2K marker but after 3K I knew I was on for a time close to my prediction based on my 3K time trial. It was just a case of running steady all the way, the scenery was pretty bland as the mist was down on the hills and the route was, dare I say, a bit boring. That didn't matter too much as I was keen to do it - my first 10K for 10 years and I took 12 minutes off my time! Huzzat!

Splits:

4:48
10:25 1-3K
5:35
5:29

It was great to see all the FVO folk out supporting along the route - thanks guys and gals!
