road run 55:00 [3]
"morning" run with the Sam Fam. just went running around Dedham with Hilly and Sam. We were actually moving pretty quickly, even though we were talking the whole way. nice that it was so warm and sunny. And certainly running with company is always a good thing. Less sick feeling than yesterday or even when I woke up, so maybe turning the corner on this disease state that I've been in. arguably the best way to finish a run is to stop in the backyard and pick raspberries! I guess you could argue that having someone else pick the berries and feed them to you in some sort of seductive way might be nice too....

biking 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
biking to and from work. man did I feel dead today. I swear that I have a set amount of energy at my disposal each day and that my body can use this energy for making mucous or for everything else. That's the only way I can reasonably explain my day.

after I got home though, I put a few hours of frantic organization in an attempt to conceal from Sam that I hadn't done anything the entire week that I've been home. Which meant that I cleaned the kitchen, did my laundry, cleaned my room and her room ( well tried my best) and went food shopping... all before going to get her from the airport.

biking 45:00 [3] 9.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
biking to work and then from work to Jenn's house. Wednesday is traditionally game night, and game night traditionally means that Jenn and I go for a run and then play board games with some other non-runners. Sadly I was feeling pretty sick on Wednesday and Jenn was at Fenway watching the Sox lose a series.

I was pretty happy to have re-installed my fender as it was pretty wet out. I was also pretty to be commuting by bike again, since the Green D-line is so miserable this summer. I can either wait for the bus, take the bus to resevoir, and then take the T to Longwood ( door to door about 45 minutes) or I can bike ( door to door in under 30). of course I miss out on 2 crossword puzzles and 4 sudoku's of varying difficulty by biking to work. Now all I can do is print out the Nurikabe puzzle while I'm on lunch break.

road run 40:00 [3]
Jenn and I ran around the reservoir a loop and a half. felt pretty phlegmy, but running is good for what ails you much like BorisGr has been known to say. It was raining the whole time, and we were contemplating if there is any real science about running in the rain while sick making you even sicker. It's just that I envision mothers (okay not my mom, maybe someone else's mom) saying "you'll catch your death of cold". interesting my mom did forward me an article that shows exercise in the cold can depress the immune system ( test subjects were horses, readout was cytokine levels). I'm clear that wet = evaporative cooling = cold.... but this was warm rain. Actually compared to the JWOC training camp in Orange, this was tropical. my guess that any exercise while sick would add stress to the system and that would lead to getting sicker. Maybe another question for Szurcher? what are the potential benefits of exercise on illness?

Samantha better get home for LA soon, because when I start posting, it means there isn't anyone around to regulate bedtime.
