Note
Harry Potter is over. Now to go marvel over the greatness of Ms. Rowling as I can finally get some sleep.

Friday Jul 27

biking 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
to and from the workplace. I felt pretty good while biking. very slow and lazy as I started, really just enjoying the morning. I raced a Greenline shuttle bus on the way home though, all the way from the reservoir. Turns out that roomate Eric was on that bus, and I totally beat him home. booyah, score n+1 for the bike, 0 for the broken MBTA.

Thursday Jul 26

biking 50:00 [3] 9.0 mi (5:33 / mi)
Biking to work, and from work to kinko's ( the bane of my existance) and from kinko's across the street to hammond pond.

stupid kinko's. well really incompetent me, but I'm happy blaming others. let's just say the maps were a little iffy :)

orienteering 20:00 [3] 3 km (6:40 / km)
Did the CSU training at hammond pond. A great group showed up including many still on the DL.

so first issue was that the 2.8 k course was really a 1.4 k course. Ocad and kinko's, the twin banes of my existence. We are an adaptable crowd mind you so we made do. The plan was to go off in intervals, orienteer the first loop just like a sprint, and then do it again just like a sprint where you know all the controls already.

However, having placed the steamers on Tuesday I already knew where they all were, so I just ran hard and had fun. Gave me lot's of opportunity to test different route choices. Giovanni had a clever route that I tried the second loop and it saved me loads of time.

first loop took me 9:54, second took me 8:51. Will put up splits a bit later, but now it's late and I'm just going to finish posting and go to bed.

Wednesday Jul 25

biking 1:10:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:23 / mi)
Biking to work from work to Jenn's and from Jenn's home. I had a blast getting to work, hit all the lights exactly right and made a new record of 25 minutes to work! I was sweating a lot by the time I got to Jenn's place and so it was perfect that she wanted to do a swim workout instead of a run.
pool 15:00 [3] 0.4 mi (37:29 / mi)
Jenn and I drove out to Walden Pond. Jenn is on a triathlon kick right now, and wants to practice swimming more. It's a great place to go swim, lots of people are there exercising, and the water is perfect. We were running late for game night so we just swam back and forth across the width of the lake. My arms are going to hurt later after the swimming, but it was way worth it.

we parked at the school and jogged maybe half mile there and back.

Tuesday Jul 24

biking 1:15:00 [3] 13.5 mi (5:33 / mi)
biking to work/ from work to Hammond Pond/ from Hammond Pond home.

feeling better today. well in the morning I still felt drugged up on the cough syrup that I took for my throat. I felt pretty woozy until about 2pm. hopefully I won't need the stuff tonight to sleep through the night without coughing myself awake.
orienteering 25:00 [3] 2.8 km (8:56 / km)
setting up some streamers for the thursday night CSU training at Hammond Pond. my plan is to have a short enough loop that running the loop twice is feasible. The first time will be just normal orienteering. The second time will be to practice running hard through the woods ( in theory one will already know where to go). Nine flags that were pretty fun to hang. It will be interesting to see if this is a useful exercise to anyone.

meet at 6:30 in the parking lot on Thursday and we'll walk over to the start. Bring a dollar to cover map printing fees. Let me or brendan know if you plan on coming!

biking 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
biking to and from work. super phlegmy. really worry about dehydrating when I spit up so much mucous.
