Road run 1:27:00 [3] 10.0 mi (8:42 / mi)
Certainly an interesting run for me. I started the day after many hours of playing on the internet, trying to stay in touch with the racing going on in Kiev. Then hopped a ride with Jenn and her roomate to Good Harbor Beach in Rockport. The skies were a bit overcast at 2pm when we left, but the day was gorgeous when we got to the shore. Perfect for sitting by the dunes and playing Raj, and then Bacci Ball. lot's of time to sit and enjoy a class of surfers wiping out on the waves and a couple of dudes with metal detectors looking for dimes. It must take years for those things to pay for themselves. We convinced Jenn to do no-handed cartwheels on the sand, and that's my new ambition for a good talent to learn. we headed home and I went into fenway to do the Tomb adventure show with a couple of college friends.
Tomb was really fun but only if you were able to keep a good mindset. It's a guided egypt themed puzzle challenge. Lot's of different kinds of puzzles are used and some fun special effects. We had a group of young kids with us, and the youngest ones started crying when they filled the chamber with dry ice and snake sounds. So they had to leave. We also had to complete a 4 piece version of Hanoi's Tower with a time limit. The time limit was the ceiling slowly sinking toward the floor trying to crush us. Apparently if you don't solve the puzzle in time, you really do "die" and get escorted out the "death tunnel" which would be sad because you would miss out on some of the other puzzles later on.
Anyways, after the show we headed up to sommerville to play some games at their appartment. The game we chose was called Robo Rally and was really fun, but took awhile to finish (2 am). Since Boston is so bad about the T, I decided to run home. I still had a lot of my beach stuff with me in my backpack so I ran with bacci balls bouncing in the small of my back the whole time. It's really quite nice to run at night here, because it's cool, but everything is so well lit. I did a bit of a memory-o, which is why the run lasted so long, I took the long way around a lot when I was on the North Side of the river. still, It was good to get a run in, and convenient that it also got me home tonight.
I think I'm going to give up now ( 5 am) on trying to get my computer to give me WOC results from the long quali, and go to bed. Go USA!!
