biking 2:25:00 [3] 32.0 mi (4:32 / mi)
A lot of biking today. To work, then at lunch I ran some errands ( bike supplies and a webcam to purchase), after work I biked down to CSU training in the Blue Hills. The bike down was really very pleasant. After training, I biked home to Newton. I was doing just fine until I turned the wrong way on La Grange Street and ended up going up and over a big hill back south into readville. I recognized when I got to the Turtle Pond Parkway and then I turned around and made my way back to where I was supposed to go. I added about 4 extra miles and 15-20 minutes onto my ride with that silly turn.
after all the biking I was really thirsty and sleepy. came home and didn't even have the energy to eat dinner. drank several liters of water, an entire container of orange juice and fell into bed.
Longwood to Blue Hills 10 miles 44 mins
Blue hills to Newton 15 miles 65 mins
(should be 11 miles)

CSU training set by Pia. She set a contour only course (well she took a lot of stuff off the map, not everything). This was really fun, and quite challenging. You really had to stay focused the entire time. I only got lost when I was less disciplined about following along super closely. I must have left my map in the back of Pia's car because I can't seem to find it.
Throughout the race I think I must have gotten 100 FDFs, CSU shirt is blue... hmm design flaw in the summer. lots of mistakes at the end... didn't really seem so bad at the time, but looking back I got much worse after control 9.
Splits:
1) 1:38 ( junky on the hilltop, slowed me a bit)
2) 1:13 (slippery on the down, time for some new inov8s)
3) 3:52 (tricky bit across a fairly bland area)
4) 9:30 (got caught way short, then was very hesitant all the rest of the way)
5) 1:58
6) 2:23
7) 3:51 ( ran through the lower bit in the slash, but was quite fast)
8) 1:56
9) 5:29 ( long hill)
10) 8:18 (pulled too far left, took too long to figure it out. I was trying to read some contours that weren't big enough to be on the map)
11) 7:06 ( got too high up the hill, saw Mark, saw the open area, corrected)
12) 17:17 ( pretty bad leg for me, tried to come off the marsh and then over the hill. That was too vague, did a bad job of actually relocating, kept trying to read the shape of the hillside instead of going back up to the top)
13) 9:28 ( followed the wrong spur up the hill)
14) 3:16 (dark, hard to read the map)
F) 4:39 (with Ian, in the dark)
