orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Setting up for Quidditch at Prospect Hill. This is going to be very fun. some areas on the map are very junky some are beautiful to run on. So many streamers! it's kind of crazy :)

got a new pair of Inov8s (X-talon 212s) and they feel great to run in. I got a 3mm footbed to replace the 6mm footbed they come with. Hoping that this helps my feet fit in the shoe better and ultimately hope the shoes last longer because they fit better.

biking 35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

Only a few more days until Hungary! If I didn't have so much to get ready at work I'd have some more time to go running! CSU has a busy weekend planned though, so I'll get some woods running in soon :)

biking 2:25:00 [3] 32.0 mi (4:32 / mi)

A lot of biking today. To work, then at lunch I ran some errands ( bike supplies and a webcam to purchase), after work I biked down to CSU training in the Blue Hills. The bike down was really very pleasant. After training, I biked home to Newton. I was doing just fine until I turned the wrong way on La Grange Street and ended up going up and over a big hill back south into readville. I recognized when I got to the Turtle Pond Parkway and then I turned around and made my way back to where I was supposed to go. I added about 4 extra miles and 15-20 minutes onto my ride with that silly turn.

after all the biking I was really thirsty and sleepy. came home and didn't even have the energy to eat dinner. drank several liters of water, an entire container of orange juice and fell into bed.

Longwood to Blue Hills 10 miles 44 mins
Blue hills to Newton 15 miles 65 mins
(should be 11 miles)

orienteering 1:21:56 [3] 5.0 mi (16:23 / mi)

CSU training set by Pia. She set a contour only course (well she took a lot of stuff off the map, not everything). This was really fun, and quite challenging. You really had to stay focused the entire time. I only got lost when I was less disciplined about following along super closely. I must have left my map in the back of Pia's car because I can't seem to find it.

Throughout the race I think I must have gotten 100 FDFs, CSU shirt is blue... hmm design flaw in the summer. lots of mistakes at the end... didn't really seem so bad at the time, but looking back I got much worse after control 9.

Splits:
1) 1:38 ( junky on the hilltop, slowed me a bit)
2) 1:13 (slippery on the down, time for some new inov8s)
3) 3:52 (tricky bit across a fairly bland area)
4) 9:30 (got caught way short, then was very hesitant all the rest of the way)
5) 1:58
6) 2:23
7) 3:51 ( ran through the lower bit in the slash, but was quite fast)
8) 1:56
9) 5:29 ( long hill)
10) 8:18 (pulled too far left, took too long to figure it out. I was trying to read some contours that weren't big enough to be on the map)
11) 7:06 ( got too high up the hill, saw Mark, saw the open area, corrected)
12) 17:17 ( pretty bad leg for me, tried to come off the marsh and then over the hill. That was too vague, did a bad job of actually relocating, kept trying to read the shape of the hillside instead of going back up to the top)
13) 9:28 ( followed the wrong spur up the hill)
14) 3:16 (dark, hard to read the map)
F) 4:39 (with Ian, in the dark)

biking 35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

Sigh. Things just don't always go as planned. wanted to go do the CSU training from last week, but kept late at work and ran out of usable daylight.

doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to accomplish all the things that I feel like I have a responsibility for let alone all the things that I'd merely like to get done.

biking 35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

to and from work. whoa, so sleepy today. was okay in the morning but after my 1/4 of a lasagna lunch I was really struggling to be awake.

decided to just go home and sleep but as I was biking home I realized that I was going to go past Marathon Sports before it closed at 7pm. I stopped off and picked up a pair of shoes (using my CSU discount). last year's Asic 2130's... very nice looking and I needed a new pair of kicks because my last pair is old and also my last pair is sitting by Sandy's backdoor in PA.

Road run 43:44 [3] 6.25 mi (7:00 / mi)

New Shoes. Oh man, gotta go try 'em out. So I went on a run instead of taking a nap. headed out through the Webster side of Hammond Pond out to Beacon Street and then up past BC to the Reservoir and a loop there before coming home ( added a 5 minute pickup in here for a change of pace). Very hot, which makes me glad that I shaved my head last night when I got home. I had been keeping the hair on until after Shawn's wedding so that i wouldn't ruin his photos :)

Shoes are nice. There is more cushioning at the ball of the feet that I think I'd like. I guess I'm just not used to them yet... had the same feeling with my last pair of mizuno's where they felt odd in that spot. during the run, which was pretty laid back my left foot felt a numbing sensation because of it, but no pain.
