orienteering 1:30:00 [3]
woof, started out okay. control picking set by Boris on the Blue Hills west. Sam and I headed over in the morning and things went well for awhile. Started to feel worse and worse and by the end I was suffering from a lot of GI and gastric distress.
spent the rest of the day and night very nauseous
Sad to miss Alex's ski-o at Weston.

Road run 32:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
Ah, the road conditions are absolutely miserable. hard packed uneven snow on the sidewalks and surprise sheets of ice abound. The walk that never gets shoveled is by far the worst example of this, but all in all I'm looking forward to some running that doesn't involve the potential to slip and fall.
orienteering 1:19:00 [4] 6.5 km (12:09 / km)
So today I had jury duty up in Malden, and that meant borrowing Sam's car and heading to sit in a room for a few hours early in the morning. I was kinda looking forward to sitting on a trial but none of the cases went to trial and I was let out by 11:30. I had packed orienteering stuff and so I drove over to the Fells to run the CSU Semi-Perm January course, set by Brendan. I remembered everything except for my contact lenses and this was a huge pain as my glasses fogged up and fell off a lot. very frustrating to be held back by something so trivial! I pushed hard at the beginning but the heavy snow started to take its toll and by the end I wasn't quite so energetic and I was making mistakes.
I'll post a map and QR and more analysis later. Brendan designed a really fun course, and I hope to go back up and run a contours only version of the course on Saturday.
Road run 1:40:00 [1]
After slogging through the snow in the Fells I came home and thawed my feet, as my heels had turned into blocks of ice. I had odd numb patches on my heels that didn't go away until after a long hot shower and then sitting around with my Highlander sweat pants pulled over my feet.
Sam and Jeff got home after school got out and we went for a longish run around Newton. We tacked our way up to Alex and Ed's place to drop off an envelope and then came back.
The run was nice because of the company and the novelty of running in the daylight. I was still quite cold from before though and my ankles were feeling tender from being shredded a bit from kicking through the top layer of snow in the morning.
Road run 1:08:00 5.5 mi (12:22 / mi)
Hills. Feel pretty good about this workout. Hard but rewarding. Road conditions weren't ideal but weren't terrible, never feels like I'm working hard enough, but I'm clawing my way back to running as fast as last summer. I have a goal to do 10 reps each under 2:00 at somepoint. Will be easier to do that when it gets warm out though.
My splits are at home, so I'll post them later.
