orienteering 57:17 [2] 0 mi
ahr:0 max:0
Apparently my Garmin didn't want to do any GPS logging this morning. I guess I was "Indoors" the whole time :) I scurried across the street to set streamer for the CSU Feb Semi-Permanent course. I spent a lot of time double checking areas and changing a few streamers to accommodate the woods. I ran out of time, and I had one streamer left when I had to quit and catch the last shuttle to work.
I think the course will be fun, I'm excited because I made sure to use as many novel control locations as possible. In some ways that's tough for a map that I use as often as Hammond Pond. It's also tough to fit 6 k into one course that is legible without a map exchange :)
Note
Got a cool and somewhat anonymous gift. A jigsaw puzzle of a map of my neighborhood with our house at the very center. The center piece of the puzzle is shaped like a house too. Definitely a cool present for an orienteer. Now trying to figure out who sent it.... current best guess is my sister.
Note
Got a bunch of my blood work back from this volunteer study thing that I'm going to be a part of. The Dr. mentioned that everything seemed good but that my White Blood Cell count was lowish (3.5 don't remember the units, but 4 is the low end of the normal scale) and that my hemoglobin and hematocrit numbers were on the low end of the scale and that he expected higher for an endurance athlete. I left those printouts at my desk at work, but I believe the numbers were something like 3.7 4.25 for RBC, 13 13.7 for hemoglobin, and 34 38.9 for hematocrit.....
Dr. Cypess isn't worried, but anyone out there have a feeling about whether this is an indication of an anemia? Mom, feel free to compare me to either a sheep or goat if that will help :)
Road run 16:33 [0] 1.8 mi (9:12 / mi)
missed CSU training tonight as I had a monthly dinner with some Williams folk. We went to a great restaurant called Rangzen near Central Square. The Tibetian people really know how to cook an eggplant. mmmm.
Next time we've planned to have dinner and also play settlers of Catan at the same time.... though probably not at a restaurant.

First off, Ken told me to play around the Garmin transfer awhile back and I hadn't gotten around to it until today. It's very cool. Ran to work in the morning, didn't wait for the satellites to find me and didn't stop my watch at any lights. I was worried about how cold it was going to be, but it was fairly pleasant.

I tried to talk myself out of this hill workout because I was feeling really tired and really lazy. Glad that I decided to get out the door after all.
Headed over to summit ave and did 8 reps. I was going along pretty well getting pretty fast times but just starting to slow down when I saw sgb running up the hill. He offered to join me for the remainder of my reps and it was really great to have the company. The next hill rep I got a little excited and pushed really hard at the start. I set a pace that was much too fast to maintain. The last couple were much better, clearly it's helpful for me to run with someone... just so that I don't wimp out and slow down when I shouldn't.
