Road run 57:27 [2] 7.33 mi (7:50 / mi) +4m 7:49 / mi

Decided that I wanted to get a longer run in, but knew I had social plans after work, so I made an effort to leave the house earlier in the morning and add a couple of laps of the reservoir in to the mix. It's kind of cold out still. Good and sweaty by the time I arrived in the lab.

biking 32:16 [2] 5.52 mi (5:51 / mi) +19m 5:47 / mi

Biking to work. This time includes getting a short distance before realizing that I needed to adjust my rear gear shifting cable, then biking home to grab the allen wrenches. It also includes the time that it took to vote this morning, because I forgot to stop my watch.
6 PM

biking 30:00 [2] 4.5 mi (6:40 / mi)

Leaving work later than I meant to, getting to the track just in time for a few drills and strides.
7 PM

Track 29:41 [5] 4.0 mi (7:25 / mi)

With the CSU running section, which on this chilly night consisted of Mark, Terry, and Annelisa (Jon joined for the warmup only).

the mission was a typical ladder, 800-1200-1600-1200-800 with 200 jogging rest between each. It was good, but I had eaten two bagels with peanut butter and jelly just before going, and I developed a bit of a stitch perhaps as a result of this poor food choice.

pacing was all over the place, but some of that was working through the bagel situation.

biking 20:07 [2] 2.81 mi (7:10 / mi) +32m 6:55 / mi

Wandering my way back through Cambridge to Lori/Sara's house. Alex and Lori were busy cooking dinner and I am happy to crash that kind of party any day :)

biking 20:00 [2] 4.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Biking to work. It's very cold out. Meant to go to the bike shop and replace my shifter cable over the weekend. Maybe I should switch back to running to work.
5 PM

Road run 43:00 [3] 5.5 mi (7:49 / mi)

Forgot to charge the Garmin, so I don't have the first split.

ran hills tonight, 5x up Summit. Cold and the dead leaves are slippery. Feel a little slow, but was able to pick it up a bit when chasing down a biker on rep 4.

More hills next Monday, if anyone else wants to join in!
6 PM

biking 15:00 [2] 3.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Biking home, stopping by the grocery store to pick up some food items and then at Kinko's to drop off a form to get tax-exempt printing. Caught up with (ex-) roommate Emily walking her dog Luna just after the print shop. Luna was not excited to see me wearing flashing lights and wheeling a big noisy bicycle.

orienteering 45:00 [5] 4.52 mi (9:57 / mi) +270m 8:24 / mi

Sam and I headed down to Lincoln Woods to help out at the NEOC meet. It's a very cool piece of terrain, but the map is a little old fashioned ( in mapping style) and I disagreed with at least one control placement. It's often hard for me to race well after spending the morning volunteering at the event. This was one of those days. Right out of the gate I failed to read the cliff at control 1 properly and wandered around trying to make sense of the area (some rocks were hidden under the circle, which didn't help). I was just generally sloppy for the rest of the course until 13 where the flag was simply not in the right spot. It a little too far away from the marsh and not on the very distinct cliff that it should have been on.

The woods were beautiful and open and there was lots of Halloween candy to consume. Ian's costume was absolutely fantastic! Also in the Halloween theme, I glued 4 devil horns to my forehead to contrast with Sam's angel costume.
