Road run 23:34 [3]

Warming up outside in the cold. Henrik and Mats knew all the runners there today, so the whole bunch of us went out together to warm up. I had met Hugo and Jonatan at a Linné training already, so it was good to see them again. Legs feeling good, a nice day for a run.

Track 9:18 [5]

I think that Boris or Sam started logging for me :) as I don't remember putting this up, but it's good incentive to post again. I borrowed Sam's Garmin for the race, but didn't take splits. Also, I round these times down, because 9:18 sounds better :)

The exercise du jour was a 3k race at the indoor track in Västerås. This counted as the District Champs and had a pretty good group of 9 guys running, all aiming between 8:30 and 9:30 for their times.

My goal was 9 flat, but I was aware that I haven't been doing any track work this winter, and so it would be a fight to make it in that time.

I had the farthest outside starting position, but I didn't want to go out too fast, so that was just fine. Mats and Henrik were just hammering right from the start, but I was a little better paced. Still too fast on the first 400, but came through the 1k in 3:02 which was on track. The second 1000 was ended in 6:09, and also Jonatan passed me. I pushed hard, but my legs just didn't want to go quicker. Pleased with the 9:18 finish time, but this does mean that I need to run a few more 3k time trials to work my way under the 9 minute mark.

Trail run 30:00 [3] 4.5 km (6:40 / km)

To and from work. Snowy days. A bit rushed on the way home, as the thermal camera demonstration that started at 13:30 lasted until just about 17:30. Kind of a waste of time, considering that I really doubt our lab will ever buy the camera.

orienteering 50:10 [3] 6.5 km (7:43 / km)

Onsdagnatt orienteering course. There were no trails on the map (which I discovered just a few moments after starting the race) and the emphasis tonight was on compass control.

Had a good race. Lisa set a fun course and I was running well. I ran with various of the faster people as they passed, though I was alone after control 16. Some small mistakes, but also some small triumphs, like not getting pulled off my line by the faster group that passed me on the way to 12.

Always felt like I was pretty much in control, and that's a huge improvement from before.

Trail run 45:00 [3]

Running to the clubhouse and then to the start, then back home again. Running with the club to the start was definitely the best thing I had done all day.

Tuesday Jan 24, 2012 #

orienteering 2:04:00 [3] 19.0 km (6:32 / km)

Tisdagbana J. Ran with the lead pack for the most part. It was pretty tough to keep up when they picked up the pace near the middle of the loop. I was able to find myself on the map for the most part, but I was not able to read along perfectly, the physical aspects of staying in contact were dominating over my technical ability to maintain map contact.

Forgot my wet socks in my haste to leave the house, and had to assure everyone that asked that I wasn't, in fact, crazy... just forgetful. I guess seeing bare ankles in the snow is shocking.

Pretty tired by the time I got back for the soup. Mmm soup and stale pepparkakor houses for dessert.

Trail run 35:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)

To and from work, and then over to the clubhouse for training. To work was super early in the morning, as we headed into Stockholm for the day to learn a new technique and the bus left early. Running at 6:30 is nice every once in awhile.

Home in a hurry, to make it to training on time.

Monday Jan 23, 2012 #

To and from work. I will need to get my bike up and running again, but in the meantime, running is a nice way to start the morning.

Road run 50:00 [3] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)

Running with Johan, Elisa, and Boris. From the gym around the bike paths in Stenhagen and home via the sledding hills. A nice warmup before Rockgympa.

Strength 48:00 [3]

Rockgympa with a large crowd. My hair is getting too long for this nonsense, the core and the jumps leave me sweating profusely.

Innebandy 20:00 [3]

After Rockgympa a few of us stayed around to play a couple round robin matches of innebandy. I'm improving, but mostly the game still consists of running madly after the ball, the way I play :)
