static bike - intervals of 16x15sec with 45 sec recovery (preprogrammed on machine) plus 2 mins warm up & down. Each 15secs was bum out of saddle (big effort) and furious peddling with high resistance - so glad it wasn't 30ses! How does 15secs seem so long?

Just wasn't happening today & James arrived after only 8 mins and sat watching me and questioning me whilst I was trying to get on with the set. Most annoying and felt cr*p. Foot, ankle & lower leg is now hurting lots!

Seemed hard at the time but no sore muscles the next day. Maybe not hard enough? Can't do any that stress the ankle.

Upright - 20 mins of pyramid with recovery moved from level 1 to 10 and back to 1.
Recumbent - 30 mins progressed sequentially to level 10 then used level 5 for recovery as I moved to level 21 (top level)
James finished rugby and time to go home

Foot & ankle had had enough, swollen to twice normal size, hot and bruised. Went home and collapsed in bed with ice pack. Plied myself with drugs.

Walk up Whitbarrow Scar to Lord's Seat, checking out where to do intervals.

Now doing Lard's 12x60secs with 1 min recovery.
Did first 8 , then needed to get Hamlet over a wall, so took 2 mins recovery, 9, then on 10 or 11 was running out of route - turned to go up a small hill and distater, turned my left ankle and spent about the next 4 minutes writhing about on the floor howling - hence time is some arbitrary number.

warm down, in Roudsea woods and back to car. Managed to go the wrong way in woods hence 30 mins became nearly 50! Must hunt out the O'map I've got.

pilates and upper body weights. Cancelled row due to unintentional extended run I'd had. Those full length mirrors in the studio are a nightmare! I'll wait and see how stiff I feel tomorrow. Wallowed in bath for a good 45mins - hippo.

Simpson Ground which now has new roads in it and has been decimated by felling. Hamlet the hound was well happy. My feet were sore yet again and were on their way to blisters - don't know if these inov8's will ever be blister free - but the fit seems great. Will try and wear them intermittenly and only for short outings - maybe the blister issue will stop. Have printed Lard's interval training schedule so who know's what I may do next. The fact that it doesn't take very long is a big advantage.

Cycle on back road and forest tracks from High Newton - Newby Bridge - Blind Lane -East Grizedale - Moor Top - West Grizedale - Force Forge - Oxen Park. Had enough of rearranging my knickers and anatomy - must try something else next time!

Should try and go for a run - but at the moment the weather is less than conducive. So, managed to fit this in waiting for James to finish school.

No warm up, straight in to 5km on the rower - boy have I lost it compared to what I used to be able to do. I'll try and build up to a 1/2 marathon but I remember how much my butt hurt!

2 circuits of weight machines in gym - left shoulder still a problem since end of April - might see a physio. I've done enough today! Knackered.
Rowing - Concept 2 10:00 [3] 2 km (5:00 / km)
10 mins rowing on concept 2 - my favourite - no warm up and did over 2km - but not by much - wonder how long it'll take to get under 8 min for 2km? - a target to work for.

Cycled to Dallam Running Club and then failed to run! School starts tomorrow so I'll be able to get out and do more. It's the 1st September - a good start! Hope to combine gym, swim, cycling and running as well as some days on the mountains - and the odd bit of orienteering. Variety is the spice of life & all that!
