Sunday Dec 31

Weights 45:00 [3]
Sit-ups 5:00 [2]

Note
2006 Reflections - This was by far my worst year ever for injury: two calf pulls, a nasty infected spider bite, and 5 months of plantar fasciitis. Here's hoping 2007 is much better.

It was a disappointing O year for me. One of my goals was to make it to more A-events but the injuries prevented that. Highlights for the year include the Austin and Caesar Rodney Half Marathons, the Broad St. Run, the SVO Memorial Weekend Rogaine, and Hickory Run.

Trail Run 29:45 [2] 3.5 mi (8:30 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 907's
White Clay Creek SP - Carpenter Rec Area - Started from the main parking area, worked my way down to the creek, followed the east bank on the Pomeroy Rail Trail, then back via the field south of Wedgewood Rd.

Not as far as I planned but wanted to take it easy on the heel anyway and not muck pep after being sick earlier in the week.

Friday Dec 29

Miscellaneous 24:00 [1] 2.0 mi (11:59 / mi)
Hanover, PA - Fast-walked 8 laps on the Southwestern High School track while my brother Bob and nephew Ian did some jogging. Timed Ian in a few sprints afterwards - he's getting ready for high school baseball season.

Any minimal benefit I gained from this workout was more than nullified by the two gutbusters I ate for lunch.

Tuesday Dec 26

Trail Run 48:22 [3] 5.5 mi (8:47 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 907's
TNT - Andorra. Not a good outing. Ran with Clem down to the turn-around at the overpass but then my heel tightened up big time. Had to stop and walk a little to let the throbbing subside then did a very slow jog back. Walked the last half mile or so with Sandy. Nice lasagna dinner afterwards.
Weights 45:00 [2]
pre-TNT.
Sit-ups 5:00 [2]
225

Sunday Dec 24

Cycling 40:00 [3]
On the recumbent at Mom & Dad's. 293 cals, level 4 hills. The calibration on the Schwinn is apparently much different than on the Life Cycles at the gym. No way I could do level 12 on this thing.

Saturday Dec 23

Trail Run 39:43 [3] 5.0 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 907's
Lewden Green Park - Ran from home over to Lewden Green Park via the short greenway connector they recently added off of Rt. 7. They have also repaired the vandalized wooden walkway under Rt. 1. This is not a good run to do after a rain - trails were very mucky with standing water in places. Heel was feeling somewhat tight.

Friday Dec 22

Weights 45:00 [3]
Sit-ups 5:00 [2]
225

Wednesday Dec 20

Road Run 44:44 [3] 5.75 mi (7:46 / mi)
Brandywine Park / Rockford Park - from the Y. First back-to-back running days in a while.

Tuesday Dec 19

Trail Run 54:23 [2] 7.0 mi (7:46 / mi)
TNT Andorra - Big crowd tonight. Ran with Clem along the drive at a nice comfortable pace. Followed by a most excellent birthday celebration for Dasha.

Sunday Dec 17

Hiking 2:45:00 [1] 8.0 mi (20:37 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Sundowner
Hamburg, PA - Was originally thinking about doing an AMC hike to the Pinnacle yesterday but wasn't geared up for it. Called Carlos to see if he was interested in doing a hike today instead and he was so we headed up to Hamburg. Parked at the reservoir and followed the AT to the Pulpit and the Pinnacle. Had lunch at the Pinnacle while admiring the awesome view then continued north on the AT until we reached a blue blaze that took us back to Windsor Furnace along a rhododendron-lined stream. Great day for hiking. My 5th or 6th trip to the Pinnacle and I never get tired of it.

Afterwards, we drove over to check out the Cabela's superstore in Hamburg. What a blight upon the landscape - a crass monument to rampant consumerism. I'll never set foot in it again.

Saturday Dec 16

Trail Run 46:28 [3] 5.25 mi (8:51 / mi)
Fair Hill NRMA, MD - Started at the Big Elk Chapel lot, crossed Gallagher Rd and did a big loop across the creek and back. My heel was feeling pretty good - maybe the anti-inflammatory medication is doing its job. Still too soon to tell though.
Weights 45:00 [3]
Sit-ups 5:00 [2]
225

Friday Dec 15

Weights 45:00 [3]
Ran into Joe at the gym and he asked if I would throw the medicine ball with him. We tossed it back and forth for about five minutes. Seems like a good way to dislocate a finger.

Thursday Dec 14

Track Run 37:43 [2] 4.6 mi (8:12 / mi)

TNT Media - one lap around the practice fields followed by 3.5 miles on the track all at a convalescent pace. It was really, really foggy out.
