Orienteering race 14:32 [5]*** 2 km (7:16 / km) +75m 6:07 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: VJ O-Shoes
Stuckey Pond - Sprint 1. One of the last starters so not many others on the course. A little high on #3 and a small error on #7 but otherwise clean. Really liked the course.
Orienteering race 16:03 [5]*** 2.1 km (7:39 / km) +75m 6:29 / km
spiked:11/12c shoes: VJ O-Shoes
Stuckey Pond - Sprint 2. Again one of the last starters. Like many, got sucked into the green leading to #4 and lost a minute or so before I bounced back out to the white and attacked the way I should have to begin with. Other than that pretty clean but a little slow. After 3 days of running, my heel has tightened up a bit. Overall, a really fun weekend.

Orienteering 1:37:54 [4]*** 8.21 km (11:55 / km) +310m 10:02 / km
spiked:8/11c shoes: VJ O-Shoes
Stuckey Pond - US Team Fundraiser Red Course. A poor effort. Felt sluggish out of the start, overshot #3, was tentative on #5 and had two "wardrobe malfunctions" when I twice had to stop, sit down, take my shoe off, and dislodge sticks that were stuck under my arch (one of the disadvantages of wearing Active Ankles - more debris tends to get down in your shoes. This was the first time I can ever remember having to actually take my shoe off during a race). On the plus side, I did get to see a large black bear on the way to #5 and it was a nice day to be out in the woods.

Red - Splits

Saturday May 28

Road Run race 19:40 [5]5 km (3:56 / km) vdot: 50.8
shoes: New Balance
Wilmington, DE - Delaware Military Academy 5K. Started at Conaty Park, then did a 1 block loop through a Trolley Square neighborhood then into Brandywine Park for the remainder of the race. Hill out of the start and an uphill finish but the rest of the course was pretty flat. 4th overall, 1st M40-49. Splits: 6:00 / 6:25 / 6:34 / 0:40.
Road Run 7:00 [2]1.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Trail Run 40:21 [4]5.5 mi (7:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance
Brandywine Creek SP - The usual loop from the bridge. Weather was just awesome, the wildflowers in the floodplain in full bloom. Almost made me forget I was running on 4 hrs sleep.

Tuesday May 24

Trail Run 41:07 [3]5.6 mi (7:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance
Brandywine Creek SP - From the bridge but decided to take a detour around Maintenance Hill out to Adams Dam Rd. and then back in through the park entrance. Felt a little sluggish in the middle of the run - think it's because I've laid off the caffeine the last couple of days.
