Wollamgambie 2 canyon

Decent hike down & back from the river (6.4km ish) plus a cruisy float, swim & scramble down with some rubber rings. Got a bit cold, especially exploring the bottom of Whungee Wheengee canyon. Climb out from the river quickly changed that.

Salvaged something from a rubbish week of cold disrupted training with a reasonable effort on the old Willy to Billy route. Had intended to do this in the morning, and do the full Mt Irvine to Bilpin return, but weather forecast meant canyoning first, and I was feeling rubbish so just as well. Despite getting rather cold in the river I perked up after lunch and we avoided the epic hail, so headed out to get a run in between thunderstorms, starting in sunshine and finishing in the mist.

From the road block down to Bowen's Creek at a reasonable pace, cruise up the other side for a while as I wasn't sure how much to do to keep the cold at bay, so turned around at the second switchback. Then back down to the bridge, before a solid effort up the 5+km climb up the other side.

Good trails these, decent firetrail on the Mt Irvine side, washed out & more technical firetrail on the Bilpin side - keen to do the whole route sometime, and Mt Wilson is a great base for camping out here.
