Fun run through the TdF crowds along the roads (awesome atmosphere, hundreds of cyclists, a few mentions of Killian Jornet) from Luz then onto the GR10 route up to the first few big hairpins of the main Tourmalet climb.

Really nice trails but a bag full of snacks made for hard work, especially after adding cider & beer at 9 km. Trying Nicole's UD bag for the rogaine but it seemed to be constantly rubbing my collarbone, even before the booze addition - huge bruising now, that'll be a no for that plan then.

Would have liked to have gone higher up the Tourmalet to watch, but it was stupid hot out and we had a limited time for the return due to dinner restrictions. As it was, we had a great view of the approach and early tussles with the peleton already splintered, and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Back down the GR10 to Luz, good fun again on the downhill route but legs trashed by the end (and a bit of a stitch from beer and snacks after the first downhill section). Back in time for dinner, result.
