Green Gully Track Day 3

Not so much of the track today - a few km of washed out trail with multiple creek crossings before it turned into choose your own path up the river, rock-hopping along surrounded by butterflies and under the watchful eye of rock wallabies.

Only one deep crossing at the Green Gully canyon which was almost up to my waist, but there was a pool there deep enough for a refreshing swim (with a turtle, no less).

Eventually we were back on a washed out trail to take us the final 4km to the hut, where another swim in the creek rounded off a rather pleasant day.

Had a headache most of the day though, waking up dehydrated and not drinking enough water in the evenings most likely.

Green gully track day 2

Big old climb to begin with on a decent footpad, then from the trig at the top looped around the ridge on an undulating firetrail with a couple of cracking lookouts over the following day's route and our end point for the day. After the latter of these there was an awesome singletrack dropping down the spur with great views on each side through the trees, finishing on a bigger trail through a narrow pass at the bottom surrounded by rock wallabies.

Green gully track day 1

Lovely run along firetrail with some decent pinches, great views in places and a good contrast between the burnt side of the trail and the unburnt side after a fire a couple of months back.

Wasn't planning on using the Wizard sticks today but was glad to after right quad didn't like downhills after Wednesday's impact, everything feeling a bit awkward and painful.

A detour to a nearby ridge didn't give us any better views, but did give us a red bellied black snake. Finished nice and early with time for a wash in the river and a nap outside the but.

Note
(rest day)

Knocked off my bike, 100m from home, the day before going on holiday, good timing... blind junction, bottom of a hill, kinda unsurprised as I've had near misses here before.

Thankfully everyone was moving slowly so I got off pretty unscathed apart from some likely bruises and needing a new front wheel, hopefully not too sore for 8 hours sitting in a car tomorrow.
