Brush Farm flag chasing on tired legs and mind, and the mind was especially weak so I ditched the get them all route halfway round but missed an easy 30 points in the process, then chose the straight line through the green route which was especially silly. Oh well.

Bright 4 Peaks: Mystic

Again, legs not really responding on the opening climbs through tiredness, but got into things more as the course progressed and enjoyed the undulating climbs along the top catching a few along the way. More surprising was that I actually enjoyed the descent and the long downhill blast to the finish - probably as it was both the finish to the race and the weekend so you could trash the legs fully.

Bright 4 Peaks: Mt Hotham

After the blast around the park tried to settle into a comfortable pace for the opening 6km of enjoyable undulating trail before hitting the climb.

Never really found my rhythm on the climbs though and legs weren't responding, not aided by the path that contoured along the spur being far more overgrown from what I remembered so hard work. Dropped a few places when my laces came undone here too, though that motivated me to catch them back up. Just had to grind it out once we hit the second climb, then coerce the tired legs along the ridge to finish.

Bright 4 Peaks: Little Feathertop

Weather forecast not great and little visibility at the top meant a shortened route, which I was glad of, and made me think I could manage my aim of running the lot. Pack set off at a slightly more sedate pace than yesterday, thanks to road section to start, and I settled in at a comfortable pace to try and keep the HR lower.

Was probably mid 20s at the start of the trail and worked my way through a good chunk of folk up the climb. Ankle finally stopped hurting after 3km and everything was feeling pretty good until the only guy to pass me went by around 8km and I tried to go with him past a few others ahead. Then hit the steep stuff and everyone ground to a walk. Tried to keep it going but wheels came off and I was even more grateful of the shortened course.

Bright 4 Peaks: Mt Buffalo

Manic start to get a decent position across the bridge and early singletrack and probably a bit too hard, having to walk 300m after 1.5km. Got back into it after that, aside from a few pinches, reeling in folk the rest of the way.

Chest the main limiting factor, and calves tightened through the rockhopping granite section which slowed progress, and I rolled my right ankle just as we hit the really fun runnable bit 2km from the finish, but it eased off towards the end. Almost missed the actual finish thanks to a lack of decent directions approaching the final stairs to the chalet.
