shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes
We took two trams and a bus out to Sisjon-Kallered and did a long course which Krystal set for me. Struggled, especially with the last few, though my first couple went quite well. Was raining the whole time!

C • Good luck 2
Orienteering tempo 45:00 [3]6 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes
A good, small-ish course on Skatås, the map next to where we are staying. Felt fairly fast and beginning to read quite well!
Note
Last night a man broke in to the club house where we are staying. It is just Krystal, Bridget, Lachie and I staying there, and it totally freaked us out. He opened the door with what looks like must have been like a chisel and then walked around and knocked stuff over and then he mumbled something through the door to us and then left. He came back half an hour later and then left again. Then he came back but didnt come in at 5 and then at 7 and then about 8 15 so we called the police. We havent seen him since...the police just took a description and looked at the door...we took all our valuables with us today and hid our other stuff! Very scary but no one hurt and nothing stolen...

Orienteering race 16:20 [4]3.5 km (4:40 / km)

This was one of the sprints. Didn't take it 100 percent because I didnt want to be stuffed! Didn't make any mistakes but a few hesitations.

Thursday Jun 12

Event: Forssa Games

Wednesday Jun 11

Jogging 35:00 [3]6.5 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Runners
Second day in Helsinki. Today we (olly, nicko and I) went on a cruise around the archipelago and looked at the maritime fortress which was built on 6 islands, and a whole lot of other cool stuff. We had a look around the market which is next to the dock, and took some photos of the massive cathedrals and this other impressive building which had huge columns, but I don't know what it was because I can't speak finnish. Then we went to the National Museum which has a statue of a bear out the front. It was pretty cool and the celing in the atrium was fairly amazing. We had lunch at a restaurant/bar called "virgin" which I have suspicions is a strip club at night but it seemed pretty respectable when we ate there, hehe.
Found a cheaper supermarket today...yesterday we paid about 8 aussie bucks for a packet of cheerios but our tea and snacks all up only cost about 25 bucks today and we found ice-creams for 0.39 euro. Guess it was a finnish equivalent of Aldi.
People drive on the wrong side of the road here! Hehe. The tram and bus system is awesome though.

This run was done around a park north of where we are staying, at the Helsinki 1952 olympic stadim. There is a hostel in there now. It would be a good area for a sprint, we reckon. Turned out to be pretty hilly and also got slightly lost but it was good fun. Saw a massive theme park which we just might visit tomorrow before we head off to the Forssa games.

Orienteering race 1:14:00 [4]8.9 km (8:19 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes
Madcap Melville, at Melville Caves. Wasn't thinking or planning right today, also got frustrated with the thickness. Guess I was just a bit tired and excited about jetting off!
Orienteering race 51:00 [5]5 km (10:12 / km)
shoes: VJ Intergrator O-Shoes
First day at Sorlandsgaloppen (was actually day 2 but we missed day 1). Very rainy, pretty cold, very muddy. Today was a mass start and it included a butterfly loop. Was good fun! Not many in my age group...just 7 including Belinda and I. They had a sort of Tour de France system where there was a shirt for the overall leader and a shirt for the person with the most points. You earned points by being the fastest in certain parts of the course. Did okay but had a very stupid route choice to number 10. There were lots of track options today!

Sunday Jun 8

shoes: Silva O-Shoes
Orienteering race 1:00:35 [4]8.6 km (7:03 / km)

Winter Classic Day 2 at Melville Caves.
Brilliant run actually. Hesitant on a few, including number 2 where I was a bit to the left on the wrong bare rock. Lost about a minute and a half on 9 where I was looking for the control too early. Had trouble bashing through the green, but then so did everyone. Pretty good really.

Orienteering race 1:11:24 [4]8.8 km (8:07 / km)
shoes: Silva O-Shoes
Winter Classic Day 1 at Kooyoora Spur. Had a dreadful run!
Got up to number 5 fine, except for a wiggle on 4.
Then headed off down the wrong spur on the way to 6 and would have become completely lost if I hadn't stopped and had a good look. Crossed over the saddle and then started trying to tick off features but I was in the wrong gully! Anyway worked it out and found it eventually.
Number 7, being annoyed from number 6, headed off in the wrong direction down the wrong spur and ended up in the wrong gully! Don't know how I worked it out but I guess I realised there shouldn't be a big rocky spur on my right.
Followed the "swirling vortex" and ended up at the wrong feature at 11, didn't waste too long though, then was looking for 15 at a feature that was hidden under the control circle = (.
Oh well! It's over!

Sunday Jun 1

Orienteering long 1:30:00 [4]9.5 km (9:28 / km)

Training on Mt Beckworth, steep and quite tricky. Fairly hesitant, especially around on the really steep side where I struggled with reading what was mapped and what wasn't. Anyway good, fairly tough training.
