Second day in Helsinki. Today we (olly, nicko and I) went on a cruise around the archipelago and looked at the maritime fortress which was built on 6 islands, and a whole lot of other cool stuff. We had a look around the market which is next to the dock, and took some photos of the massive cathedrals and this other impressive building which had huge columns, but I don't know what it was because I can't speak finnish. Then we went to the National Museum which has a statue of a bear out the front. It was pretty cool and the celing in the atrium was fairly amazing. We had lunch at a restaurant/bar called "virgin" which I have suspicions is a strip club at night but it seemed pretty respectable when we ate there, hehe.
Found a cheaper supermarket today...yesterday we paid about 8 aussie bucks for a packet of cheerios but our tea and snacks all up only cost about 25 bucks today and we found ice-creams for 0.39 euro. Guess it was a finnish equivalent of Aldi.
People drive on the wrong side of the road here! Hehe. The tram and bus system is awesome though.

This run was done around a park north of where we are staying, at the Helsinki 1952 olympic stadim. There is a hostel in there now. It would be a good area for a sprint, we reckon. Turned out to be pretty hilly and also got slightly lost but it was good fun. Saw a massive theme park which we just might visit tomorrow before we head off to the Forssa games.

Madcap Melville, at Melville Caves. Wasn't thinking or planning right today, also got frustrated with the thickness. Guess I was just a bit tired and excited about jetting off!

First day at Sorlandsgaloppen (was actually day 2 but we missed day 1). Very rainy, pretty cold, very muddy. Today was a mass start and it included a butterfly loop. Was good fun! Not many in my age group...just 7 including Belinda and I. They had a sort of Tour de France system where there was a shirt for the overall leader and a shirt for the person with the most points. You earned points by being the fastest in certain parts of the course. Did okay but had a very stupid route choice to number 10. There were lots of track options today!

Winter Classic Day 2 at Melville Caves.
Brilliant run actually. Hesitant on a few, including number 2 where I was a bit to the left on the wrong bare rock. Lost about a minute and a half on 9 where I was looking for the control too early. Had trouble bashing through the green, but then so did everyone. Pretty good really.
