Jogging 2:06:56 [3] 15.09 km (8:25 / km)

Copying Krystal's activity because I accidentally stopped my watch a few km from Chinley.

"Run" from Edale to Chinley. Aside from being rough, rocky, muddy and VERY steep in places, the whole area was also roughly knee-deep in snow. It was fun and very good scenery, the only bits that sucked a bit were walking up Crowden Clough valley and again walking up to South Head (that was actually my bad, the tracks were hard to see in the snow and I took us up the wrong one). I would love to run up to Kinder in some way that avoids any ridiculously steep climbs.

Swimming 1:15:00 [3] 3.6 km (20:50 / km)

Busy pool today, bit odd for this time of morning.

Jogging 1:03:08 [3] 11.2 km (5:38 / km)

Run up Rivelin with Krystal. Lovely run, really nice weather, good to have company!

Jogging warm up/down 17:16 [3] 3.2 km (5:24 / km)

Running intervals 24:00 [5] 5.7 km (4:13 / km)
ahr:173 max:181

ShUOC intervals. 6 x (4 min on, 2 min off). It was SOOOO muddy tonight, I actually thought it was reasonably fast but now I can see that it wasn't.

I didn't go all out, I didn't want to over-do it, but my heart rate did still get fairly high. I felt better than expected but was still breathing hard, and I actually felt a bit crap in the guts.

Jogging warm up/down 28:25 [3] 4.8 km (5:55 / km)

Recoveries and warm down.

Jogging 1:04:01 [3] 11.5 km (5:34 / km)

Run up the hill and over down to Rivelin, along Rivelin for a bit and then back. At the beginning I got a bit scared running in Rivelin in the dark by myself but by the end it was quite peaceful, and it was nice and sheltered from the insaaaane wind of today.

I got lost on the way home and sort of zig-zagged around Walkley trying to get back to the Arts Tower (it's a good landmark), this also meant I had to run through Ponderosa for a bit which was veeery dodgy in the dark (a heavily accented man actually said something to me along the lines of "you shouldn't run here at night, it's not safe").

Last day of cruising a little bit, I am feeling way better so tomorrow I think I will be back to it.

Orienteering race 45:00 [4] 7.6 km (5:55 / km)

SYO Night Score Event in Sheffield city centre. This was fun, something a bit different. It was almost a street-o but with an actual sprint map. There were no actual controls but you had to write down the number of the City Council sticker on the lamp post in the control circle. This was a bit difficult at times because the post often wasn't in the centre of the circle, and occasionally there were posts only a few meters apart, so it was easy to waste time looking around for the right number. The mapping / map printing left a little bit to be desired in places, some of the impassible walls / fences were only pretty thin black lines so that made it tough.

Didn't push particularly hard, still not feeling that good, and I wouldn't say my route was particularly efficient, but I got all bar 2 controls and got back with 5 seconds to spare, so that put me in good stead!

Jogging 11:05 [3] 2.0 km (5:33 / km)

To / from the gym.
5 PM

Strength & Conditioning 45:00 [3]

First circuits back with ShUOC. It was definitely tougher than usual, which could have been either the cold or the two weeks off from S&C.

Orienteering 1:37:40 [3] 11.1 km (8:48 / km)

Orienteering on Longshaw Estate. This map is a mix of forest and open fell, with a fair bit of rock detail and some contour detail.

I felt pretty crappy, and maybe should have done a short one, or none at all. I was keen to shake out my orienteering cobwebs but honestly I was neither mentally nor physically on the ball.

Also - to be honest the map wasn't great. It could have had some cool areas of rock but they were either completely under-mapped or left off entirely. Even the finer contour mapping left a lot to be desired.
