6 x 1km "steady" / 800 "float". This went really well! I think maybe the rest day yesterday may have had something to do with it - but I like to think that I'm just getting better. It was a little bit of a lonely session.

I had time to run, but after 3 hours sleep, 8 hours of travel / waiting and 7 hours of work, I didn't really feel up to it.

Latvian World Cup Sprint Qual.

Went cleanly to #1 and #2, then on #3 I went out along the railway track on the other side of the treeline, then came back in too far to the north and had to backtrack. Lost probably 50s.

The rest of the course went fairly cleanly, but with poor route choices to #11 -
I went right around the block which was fine but then went around to the left of the lake at the end of the leg - and #12 - went through the field to the left instead of the road to the right which was rougher and not as flat, if slightly shorter.

Unsurprisingly, I didn't qualify. I wouldn't have even without my mistake to #3, but I don't know if I was just running a bit within myself after that, afraid of stuffing it up again.

Latvian World Cup Sprint B Final.

Really cool area and course. That's about all I have positive to say! Didn't read my description on the way to #5, went to the wrong side of the wall, lost so long, just couldn't understand why the control wasn't there.

The rest of the course I was just completely off. Took the wrong entrance to #7 and had to go around, then took just an awful route to #12 - back down to the bottom of the castle forecourt and back up 100 steps, instead of around the flat to the right (which was probably also slightly shorter).

Latvian World Cup Relay. Running 3rd leg in a composite team with Anina Brunner (Switzerland) and Amanda Falcke-Weber (Denmark).

My first leg runner came in 3rd, and my second leg runner was around 10th, so I was extremely nervous at the beginning. I went off way too fast, and #1 I compassed in the complete wrong direction from the saddle and was searching in the green next to the wrong gully with the girl from Lithuania.

Went fine to #2, but then on #3 I chose to approach the control from above instead of going around the spur to the left, and of course I missed the control to the right. Found one of the other gaffles then relocated to my own.

Went OK from #4 to #8 other than being slightly high on #6. I had run past part of the bobsleigh track on the way to #8 and assumed that was where #9 was located - but it was actually on the part of the track several contours up. Should have read the map instead of just assuming.

The last loop went fine, but I'd already lost too much time. Disastrous run - could have gone much better if I'd slowed down and got #1 cleanly, then I wouldn't have been so rattled for the rest of the race (and might have had a chance of holding on to some of the pack).

Latvian World Cup Middle Distance.

Started well enough. Took the track to the left on #1, and got quite pushed around by the green on the way to #2 but found the control cleanly. Caught the French girl who started before me.

Took the track on the left to #3 to avoid the green, but then allowed the French girl to push me off course on the way to #4 and went way too wide. I knew I was doing it, too, which was the worst part. Got caught by the girl who started after me.

Went around to the left of the hill on #5 to avoid the green, but then was too low and missed the control. Found a Ukranian girl coming back from the men's control.

Clean on #6 through #11, but then on #12 I decided to follow the pack down the wrong gully (again I knew I hadn't gone far enough, but I doubted myself). Relocated fairly quickly once the control didn't appear, and caught up with one of the Hong Kong girls.

Clean through the rest apart from a daft route choice to #15 where I wussed out and went all the way around a track instead of just straight down the slope. Managed to get #18 cleanly because I came at it from the track - seems like a lot of people lost time there.

Overall not a great run. Just drives home how I lack confidence and concentration.

Walk / jogging around the model event. White bits of forest are really nice, green bits are thick but not impenetrable. Contours seem to make sense.
