Jogging long 2:13:33 [3] 24.16 km (5:32 / km) +573m 4:57 / km
ahr:140 max:162

Long snowy run before work, attempted to do the full Sheffield Round Walk route but ran out of time - had to cut from Graves Park straight to Meersbrook Park, and then straight home from Abbeydale Rd. Probably only missed out about 2km.

Really cool in the snow at the top of Porter and Limb valley! Felt like a little kid I was so excited. Did go for one slide on a road in Totley but managed to save it and not land on my bum.

Jogging warm up/down 16:37 [3] 2.97 km (5:36 / km) +84m 4:54 / km
ahr:142 max:158

Running intervals 9:00 [5] 1.68 km (5:21 / km) +120m 3:57 / km
max:175

Baby hill session with Alice - first in a long time. 3 x (90, 60, 30) with jog down recovery and 1min between sets, on the grass in Bingham Park. Felt very very stiff and sluggish, HR didn't rise much.

Exciting morning as everything was covered in snow, even right down in town! Made the grassy, muddy hill a bit more difficult!

Jogging warm up/down 29:24 [3] 4.9 km (6:00 / km) +24m 5:51 / km

Recoveries and warm down.
3 PM

Swimming 45:00 [3] 2.2 km (20:27 / km)

At Goodwin. Didn't quite realise how little time I'd have before circuits.
4 PM

Strength & Conditioning 40:00 [4]

ShUOC circuits. It's been ages and I'm weak.

Swimming 50:00 [3] 2.3 km (21:44 / km)

Got kicked out early for canoe club training, should have checked the timetable.

Plan was to swim this morning and run this evening, but couldn't sleep til 3am so didn't make it up.

Lovely Rivelin loop. Cool but not cold, overcast but dry, nice and still. Felt tired today but enjoyed it a lot. Bell Hagg is beautiful with all its crags, and Rivelin is like a motivational poster with all its moss-covered rocks. Runs like today make me sad that I will ever leave Sheffield!

Cycling 2:47:46 [3] 58.75 km (21.0 kph) +980m

Uni of Sheffield Cycling Club Christmas Ride!

This ride was a bit longer than I'd usually go for on a Wednesday due to the occasion. Kyhil and I went with the "B minus" pace group, but there were a couple of "C" pace riders with us trying to push themselves for a longer and slightly faster ride - so not the fastest ride for us. I didn't mind, it was good fun, and there were lots of people in both A and B rides (and the mountain bikers) dressed in santa suits / elf suits and with tinsel-wrapped bikes.

As always on the UoSCC Christmas Ride, we went out the A57 to Ladybower, down to Hathersage, along the Hope Valley to Castleton and up the infamous Winnats Pass, before turning around back to Hathersage and then back into Sheffield via Surprise View.

Felt quite good actually, I think even if the ride was a bit faster I would have coped OK.

Jogging warm up/down 20:49 [3] 4.09 km (5:05 / km) +45m 4:49 / km
ahr:144 max:167

Good group running down tonight, with Mary, Rich, Charlotte, Tom and I.
6 PM

Running intervals 22:34 [5] 5.3 km (4:15 / km)
ahr:174 max:181

4 x 1200 on 5.55 plus 5 x strides.

This went better than I expected considering the race on Sunday. Considered doing 5 but the last 1200 rep was 5 seconds slower than the second last, so it was time to throw it in.

Jogging warm up/down 22:35 [3] 4.26 km (5:18 / km) +57m 4:58 / km
ahr:148 max:166

Jogging 46:56 [3] 8.18 km (5:44 / km) +96m 5:25 / km

Up & Running Social Run Group. Lots of people racing yesterday, so not enough people for a fast and slow group. Felt a bit sorry for one of my usual slow groupers who found the pace a touch fast - but refused to slow down and drop back! Impressed.

Jogging warm up/down 8:13 [3] 1.17 km (7:01 / km) +24m 6:22 / km

Running race 38:43 [5] 10.0 km (3:52 / km) +72m 3:44 / km
ahr:175 max:179

Percy Pud 10km Race.

Out-and-back course beginning on Loxley Rd and turning around at Low Bradfield by way of the road to the West of Damflask Reservoir. Named because at the end of the race you are given a Christmas pudding. Many people run in Santa suits and there is a band playing carols.

Didn't expect big things and didn't get them. Started hard but was already starting to pull up by about 2km. Legs fine but lungs / body just not there - HR sluggish to rise. Got a small second wind around the 6.5km mark but it only lasted until we went back up the hill at 8km. Finished 11th.

Eilish McColgan (finalist in 5000m at Rio Olympics and 2017 World Champs) finished second overall (men and women) in a handy 32.23.
10 AM

Jogging warm up/down 14:38 [3] 2.13 km (6:52 / km) +51m 6:08 / km

WD with Mary.
