Very not restful sleep on a €4 piece of foam with the commentary very audible and the sky very light most of the night. I don't know how the guys perform off this (though I'm sure the best teams aren't sleeping in the arena).

Jukola Leg 7 for Metsäylioppilaat.

Loved it so much I wanted another go! So I went to the runner bank and found a team looking for a runner. The team is actually forestry students at uni in Helsinki, and other than me it was 4 girls (who had also run Venla) and 2 guys. So needless to say I was in the mass start!

Again, this was lots of fun. Decided not to push it like yesterday, was feeling quite wrecked this morning from Venla and then not heaps of sleep. Went off steady, got increasingly more tired and sore, made a big mistake (wrong gaffel at 4, maybe 3-4 min), a huge mistake (lost confidence on 6, searched in an unrelated area for 8 minutes or so) and a little mistake in the green in the last loop. Most frustrating thing about the mistakes was that I had passed all the slow people and got stuck behind them again! Was covered in dirt at the end, the whole area was a dust bowl!

Venla Leg 1 for ShUOC.

Time includes change over, my finish time was about a minute less. HR took a little while to get going, so the average might be a touch different.

So much fun! Loved every minute. The mass start was mad, we started at position 965 so I had a lot of work to do to get up the order. I think I made up 500 places already to the start triangle!

Couple of mistakes, I think about 90s each but I haven't looked at splits. First one I decided the pack was wrong (they were not, it was a common control) and the second one I went to the wrong gaffel. Got stuck behind slow people walking up (and down!) hills a lot which was a little frustrating. Really cool forest, first bit vague with boulders and the rest negative contour type stuff.

10 x 300 off 100m jog/walk with Charlotte.

This actually felt super hard despite not being that fast. Felt really unfit and the back straight into the wind was quite a struggle. Always expect Charl to be faster but on such short reps I'd usually expect to be keeping up (and certainly not be so far behind!). Pretty consistent until the last one which was 3 sec slower.
