Jogging warm up/down 10:33 [3] 2.12 km (4:59 / km) +2m 4:57 / km

SwimRun race 2:16:39 [5] 19.59 km (6:59 / km)

My first ever SwimRun at Safety Beach. I forgot to press lap and I was trying to separate the runs and swims out but gave up, it was too hard.

The first swim was supposed to be 300m - most people got over 1km on their Garmin. The second swim was meant to be 450m and was maybe 300 / 350m. The third swim was meant to be 350m and was again over 1km. That was the turn around point so we did the second swim again and then they mercifully shortened the last swim.

I decided to go what with everyone else was doing in the swim and wear my shoes and a pool buoy to keep my legs floating. But I forgot that I currently have no upper body strength so this was a real struggle, I really rely on my kick. Was also quite rough which I haven't had any practice in for a long time.

Felt bad for my partner who is a lot better at swimming than me and kept having to stop and wait, I think she got a bit frustrated...

There was no one on knee boards in case someone was in trouble, no IRB, and not buoys (just swim to the boat exclusion zone poles). Pretty poor really. Also I didn't have to pay the entry fee but it was $199 per team (!) - usually with Tris you can justify the high price because of road closures but this race had barely any infrastructure (no buoys, no signs) and only 28 participants - the only thing you got was some electrolyte drink at halfway and at the end (and they were stingy with that too).

Felt good running but the swims were really poor and I'm not sure I'd say I enjoyed it, on the whole. Also I forgot suncreen and now I'm SOOOO burnt.

5 x Anderson St Hill with jog down recoveries. Just a little session, trying to get back into it. Felt bad in the warm up but the session went pretty well, feel like I managed to keep my head up and keep good form (except for half of the last one, when I started to have some stomach issues).

Upriver from home and back. Didn't feel comfortable but HR was low enough. Slight knee niggle which hopefully won't turn into anything worse.

Should have just done a recovery run - felt rough. Started out doing 4 x 1200 on 7min (lots of rest but starting with Joe doing mile reps), but had to bail on the 3rd due to some tummy troubles. Tried to just cruise and keep my head up.

Jogging warm up/down 28:05 [3] 4.9 km (5:44 / km) +34m 5:32 / km

Recoveries and warm down with Joe and Nicola including once through Merri Creek labyrinth!

Arvo training became less important than looking after a very tired and distraught sister in hospital with a niece needing surgery.
