4 PM

Cycling 1:13:10 [3] 17.36 km (4:13 / km) +234m 3:57 / km

MTB ride on the single tracks near mum and dad's. They're so good, especially since they were made by one guy with a shovel! Very techy, heaps of good obstacles (a few high rollovers I wussed out of today) and very twisty and turny so took a lot of effort to try and hold speed. A bit under-ridden in places so sometimes hard to follow and covered in debris, but not too bad. Very fun.

Jogging 45:23 [3] 8.26 km (5:30 / km) +106m 5:10 / km

Still quite a lot of pain! Very wet out, only the hardcore runners out and about ;)

Tuesday Jan 14 #

Too smoky (and sore) for a run. Pool closed due to smoke.

Monday Jan 13 #

6 PM

Cycling 1:35:46 [3] 37.4 km (2:34 / km) +336m 2:27 / km

"Recovery" ride but would have liked to have stopped after an hour at most!

Mellor is here! So we took him on a "classic" Melbourne ride (the Boulie). Complete with Yarra St and Teardrop reps. Then Kyhil decided we would take him nearly all the way home rather than stopping at which point I lost interest.

Veeeeerrrry sore today - everywhere except my ankles and feet, go figure! Hobbling every time I got up from my desk.

Two Bays! 7th Female.

8 minute PB on last year, and generally better in every way. Actually enjoyed (most) of this for the beautiful course that it is, and felt I had the energy and fitness to take it on. Didn't have any bathroom stops.

Having said that, hit a big wall at around 23km (after the last spectator point) and the last couple of km were a painful crawl. Guess I just need more training! Also feel that (although I determined not to) I took the climb up Arthur's Seat too fast.

Could see 3rd and 4th until around 14km, got passed by another woman around 16km and another around 18. Was catching up to one of them by the 23km mark before my bonk, so let her go unfortunately.

Was great to have such good support, with Mum and Dad coming to watch (my brother was running too and did great, 2hrs39) and Jayne and Clare on the cow bells (thanks guys!). Great to see Freddo win and take the course record.

Afterward feet and ankles agony again. Also oddly hit by nausea that lasted about 3 hours after the race which was not ideal, not sure of the cause.
