isOlation3day Stage 3 - Strava Art

I made a bike! You can see it on Strava: https://strava.app.link/b8oI1khKC5

I thought there was some nice irony (?) in creating a bike whilst running.

It was pretty fun to plan and the route was sort of fun - the suburbs around me are reasonably leafy and quiet so it was nice enough. Got to run through some parks I hadn't found before. Used my Garmin navigation and pre planned. Wore a Go Pro so got some footage of the run. Got some odd looks wearing a running pack and camera and running random loops. Kyhil leant me his headphones, don't usually run with music but it helped towards the end.

My ankles and feet seem to be a limiting factor for me in long runs. They were very sore by the end.

isOlation3day Stage 2 - Mona Fartlek

Have only done 1 of these before so not used to the float recoveries. Thought I would choose sensible paces so went with 3.40 for the rep and 4.10 for the rest. Didn't quite achieve that, the crazy winds made it difficult in places and also was probably a bit over ambitious. Still reasonably happy with it. But unfortunately finished about 20m on from where I started (the aim was to finish in the same spot)!

Day 1 of the OA Easter Challenge - a Beep Test.

I actually had 2 attempts (don't know if that's allowed but what the hey). Jogged down to the Hawthorn Hockey Club pitches to run on the astroturf, with Kyhil to watch and keep me honest. The quarters of the pitch are 22.85m so had to do some measuring.

The first attempt was terrible, 8.9, so I sat for a bit, walked for a bit, jogged for a bit and then had another go. It was better (10.1) but then I got 11.1 in high school so I would have expected to do much much better.

Either the astroturf was slippery and it made my turns slow, or I'm not very agile (true), or I'm just unfit (very possible). I have been running OK lately though so I'm surprised.

Also when I finished my Garmin said I needed 40 hours recovery which is quite a lot for a run without that much intensity really. I also felt garbage, so maybe I've just got a bit of a cold / I'm a bit off my game (or making excuses!)

Desperate to find new places to run so today I tried to run on the E side of the river south of Swan St / N side of Gardiner's Creek but was thwarted by the presence of Scotch College (and figured that even without students they would still have security). Why the hell do they need so much land??

HR strap had a fit so no idea. Felt reasonably terrible at the start but OK at the end.

Easy lunch run from home. Braved the stairs to run the E side of the river between Bridge and Victoria.

Cycling 1:04:05 [4] 30.0 km (28.1 kph)

Garmin lost my activity. Did a shortish easyish session, 10 x 2min / 1min.

Niiice and easy. My body thanked me for it. Went exploring around the Melbourne Uni Burnley Campus (has anyone mapped this yet? Might make it a project...) and the trail along the Burnley golf course (sadly you can't run on the course).

Sufferfest - Getting Away With It.

Started off doing Nine Hammers, it was immediately apparent that my legs were cooked and it wasn't happening, so switched to an easier (base) session. Will stick to the easy week plan.
