Cycling race 24:00 [5] 14.0 km (35.0 kph)

Hanging Rock Women's Handicap Race. About 10min into the race, went through an enormous pothole (which the rider in front of me in the paceline did not indicate). At about 15min, dropped off the bunch on a very small hill. Kept riding the next section which was all downhill and noticed a "bump, bump, bump" noise coming from my bike and figured I'd just knocked the wheel onto the brake and that was why I was suddenly finding it so hard. Got to Kyhil who was marshalling on one of the corners and thought he might be able to help, but when I stopped we noticed that actually my rear rim was absolutely f***ed, had a huge distorted dent in it. After that I got in the sag wagon, and after I got around to the end of the lap and took my bike back off the car it also had a flat front tyre.

Big shame, I really enjoyed this race last year. To top it off I left my Garmin in the sag wagon so I've just estimated this time / distance.

Jogging 47:09 [2] 8.01 km (5:53 / km) +39m 5:45 / km

After the cool change. First 3k with Kyhil.

Jogging warm up/down 22:06 [3] 4.4 km (5:01 / km) +35m 4:50 / km

Running intervals 6:11 [5] 1.8 km (3:26 / km)

2 x 3 x (300, 100), 6min. Very short one as it was so hot. This was fun but it really was boiling, I'm glad it wasn't more!

Jogging warm up/down 24:46 [3] 4.66 km (5:19 / km) +19m 5:13 / km

Cycling warm up/down 27:41 [3] 11.91 km (25.8 kph) +97m

7 PM

Cycling race 31:10 [4] 15.71 km (30.2 kph) +157m

Hawthorn Teardrop Crit in Women's B. This did not go at all well. First 9min was at social pace, then the second someone attacked I got dropped and I wasn't strong enough to chase back on. Just suffered solo until 2 laps to go when B grade caught me again and I finished just behind the bunch. Wish I'd just sat up after getting dropped until they caught me again and then at least I might have had some company.
8 PM

Cycling warm up/down 32:06 [3] 12.67 km (23.7 kph) +120m

An absolute slog home.

Jogging warm up/down 22:43 [3] 4.43 km (5:08 / km) +37m 4:55 / km

Running intervals 21:00 [5] 5.22 km (4:01 / km) +20m 3:57 / km

3 x 7min / 3min float. I didn't have high hopes for this (particularly as the antibiotics are kicking my butt a bit) so I told myself just to run 'on feel'. "Feel' was apparently hard and slow haha but it was kinda nice not worrying about looking at the pace on my watch. Despite the slow pace it hurt.

Jogging warm up/down 23:01 [3] 4.5 km (5:07 / km) +12m 5:03 / km

This included the floats, they were not super floaty though haha

Orienteering 1:18:08 [3] 8.29 km (9:26 / km) +245m 8:13 / km

O-Ints on Melville Caves. This went pretty well other than two controls which were significant errors. However still just not able to run here with aggression / precision so not so much 'interval' pace. Still, positive signs, gaining some confidence.

Orienteering 1:04:30 [3] 6.61 km (9:45 / km) +228m 8:19 / km

Control pick on Crystal Mine (West part of Kooyoora). This went pretty well except one (control 16, again!) and ran the first part with Tash and Milla talking though it which was helpful. Got a bit tired though and realised it was time to call it when I found the tape for 27 but assumed it was 26 (had taken completely the wrong direction out of 25). Did 31/41 controls.
