Tuesday Feb 28

road/trail run 1:35:00 [2]
a longer run around town and the trails. And 4 minutes of high knees, butt kicks and such.

Monday Feb 27

rowing machine 10:00 [1]
To get myself warm before I had to go outside in the cold.
road run 25:00 [1]
run around town with dad
rowing machine 11:00 [2]
rowed again after I went running. Pulled a bit harder this time.

Sunday Feb 26

road run 2:11:00 [2]
arother long run around Newton with Dad and part of it with Ross. Quite windy at times and we were moving pretty fast at times.
C • You shortchanged yourself, tha... 1

Saturday Feb 25

trail run 12:00 [2]
The warm up and cool down.
Orienteering 1:09:00 [2] ***
Ran a red course that we often do, but this time we did it backwards. Again focused on compass work and looking at contours. So I did some legs without a compass and some without a map :) Ross came out again today to join dad and I so it was quite the crowd.

Friday Feb 24

road run 50:00 [1]
warm up, cool down and the in between
C • ANd here, I think the warm up ... 1
road run (hill workout) 15:00 [3]
Ran up Westfield Street hill twice and this time the heart monitor was actually kind of working! Times were 7:25 and 7:33 and my HR was around 182 or so. Lower on the flatter areas and higher on some of the steeper areas.

Thursday Feb 23

trail run 30:00 [1] *
Spent a couple of hours out in the woods with dad doing map corrections and climbing on rocks ;)

Wednesday Feb 22

trail run 1:07:30 [3]
I think this is how long the skyline trail run took. I'll check it against dad's log once he posts :) We have run this loop in close to 60 minutes, and now it's taking us much longer. I feel like I'm in good shape... maybe I'm tired? Hard to tell why and where I'mm slowing down.

Tuesday Feb 21

trail run 32:00 [1]
To the start and then back again from #9.
Orienteering 40:00 [1] ***
Dad and I alternated legs on an old Blue Hills red course. For each leg one of us would take a compass bearing and run solely on that without a map and the other would have the map and run without using their compass at all. I was much closer using only my compass than I thought I would be! The legs were 200 or so meters and I was probably about 10 meters off on most controls, but I could see the feature from my line.

Monday Feb 20

road/trail run 52:00 [1]
just a run around Newton. Spent a lot of the time running on the trails in Cold Spring Park.

Sunday Feb 19

road run 2:37:00 [2] *
Today was a new first in my running career. I have never run this long, except in an oritneering meet! Ran around Newton with dad and Ross (yep, he wasn't working today!) and we just kept going. I felt great, probably having the last two days off helped, only me knees were hurting near the end.
C • Only a 1 for intensity! For me... 1

Friday Feb 17

rowing machine 30:00 [1]

Thursday Feb 16

road run 44:30 [1]
Running over to the post office and then to westfield street and back
road run (threshold hills) 15:30 [3]
Ran 2 times up westfield street, 7:48 and 7:42. The heart rate monitor was working pretty well on the run over and so I thought it would work on the hill. It did for about the first 30 seconds and then was just wrong - unless my heart rate was 109 running uphill :) Then on the way back down the hill it would work again. I tied 2 knots in the band to get it tight enough so it really wasn't moving, but it just won't read when I start running fast. Maybe I have some weird heart beat....
C • You may need a new battery. Mi... 2

Wednesday Feb 15

trail run 1:30:00 [2]
trail run with dad. Lots of snow and slush on the trails and trying to run arond it resulted in lots of slipping and slidding around. Good for the ankles!
lifting/strength 2:00 [1]
I'm really trying to get the lifting in and keep it as part of my routine, but it's so difficult for me to do. I am tired most evenings and rather just climb into bed than spend 10 minutes lifting. Just did crunches, back exercises and toe lifts for my calves - my problem areas!

Tuesday Feb 14

xc skiing 1:05:00 [1]
skiing around the golf course with dad - enjoying the snow while it is here!

Monday Feb 13

xc skiing 1:35:00 [2]
Didn't realize dad and I were out for so long! Most of it was breaking trail and I was working pretty hard to get up some of the steep hills. the wax just wasn't quite cutting it and then if you hit a rock at the wrong angle, down you went! But it was fun to do something other than running!

Saturday Feb 11

Event: Baldwin hill training

Orienteering 52:00 [1] ***
A line-o. Much better than last time, I think because the line mainly followed linear features and the woods were more open,
Orienteering 55:00 [1] ***
This time the map had no stonewalls or trails and I ran it without using my compass. So really trying to look at the contours, and it went really well. I wasn't moving fast, but that wasn't the goal. The goal was to navigate using contours. I was a bit nervous about not using my compass and I did glace at it about 3 times, just to make sure I was along the right track,

Friday Feb 10

road run 45:00 [1]

Thursday Feb 9

trail run 1:07:30 [3]
A Blue Hills skyline trail run! First one in a long time, and I was breathing really hard on those climbs. Not our fastest time, but ok for the beginning of the season. Legs felt normal, just difficult to breathe.

Wednesday Feb 8

rowing machine 20:00 [1]
road run 25:00 [1]
run around town and to the post office with dad

Tuesday Feb 7

road/trail run 1:00:00 [1]
Was feeling a bit tired, but it went alright.

Sunday Feb 5

trail run 1:40:00 [2]
long run with dad in the Blue Hills

Saturday Feb 4

trail run 20:00 [1]
warm up and cool down
Orienteering 41:00 [2] **
a "sprint" course from the 80's where a sprint was 5k long :) Dad gave me a map with no trails or stonewalls on it, so I was relying on contours. I was having trouble in the beginning of the course, but then finished up alright.
C • Good for you keepin up the O' ... 2

Friday Feb 3

road run 30:00 [1]
juat a run around town with dad. taking it easy.
lifting/strength 20:00 [1] *
Lifting and such while looking at a denmark map - still working out the ups and downs in places!

Thursday Feb 2

trail run (hill workout) 20:00 [4]
Dad and I did these theshold runs in 3 parts. The first was about 8.5 minutes, then 7 and then 5 minutes. All the hard running was done up hills on trails in the Blue Hills. I was quite tired.
trail run 38:00 [1]
running around the trails before, after and in between

Wednesday Feb 1

trail run 1:35:00 [1] *
Ran on trails with dad.
