lifting/strength 15:00 [1]
strength stuff - lifting, crunches, leg things (ok, so I don't know the names of anything I do :) )

I had a dream last night that suddenly I was at WOC in Denmark. I had just taken all this time off and I was sore from lifting (both true) and suddenly I was at WOC! Also, there were no training days. My dream (nightmare) starts with me putting my shoes on and people telling me I am third leg of the relay. I am panicked, but try not to show it because everyone else thinks that being at WOC now is normal. I tell Sandra that we haven't had any training days in Denmark and that I am a bit nervous. She tells me that it's ok, because we have all studied the Denmark maps so we know the terrain, right? I lie and agree, but turthfully I haven't yet looked at the maps! I am so confused because doesn't WOC normally come in August, and it's now Novemeber! I am going to do horribly, and have to wait another whole year before I get the chance to redeem myself. I panic, and I explain that I cannot run and Pavlina runs in my place.
The next day there are two events, neither which I am signed up for. One is a marathon run and the other in a field hockey tournament. My dream ends somewhere when I am spectating this day, and the team from the Netherlands is laughing at me.....
Needless to say, it was stressful! I was so confused!

Sunday Nov 27

Note
So yeah, my log hasn't been updated but that's because I'm not doing anything :) It's my time off, and I'm really taking it off. I'll start running again soon, but for now other things are filling in my time and I barely notice I'm not running. I've been trying to use the time to write up course reviews, read comments about orienteering, playing catching features and the like. Really it's cleaning my room, getting a new bed, organizing my room, baking apple pie, scrubing the walls, seeing Rent and Harry Potter, and watching Alias season 3 on DVD that has taken up some of my time. But it's nice, and I'm enjoying it. So there :)

Sunday Nov 20

Event: Blue Hills Traverse

Orienteering 2:02:20 [4] ****
So it went pretty well. I messed up number 5, which is where I lost Joe, Pavlina and Peter. I just kept on going and then I saw Peter again on the trail run to 15. Apparently he could see Ross ahead of him, so I wasn't oo far behind. I caught up to Joe, Pavlina dn Peter again on 16, and got ahead of them all by 21. Then I blew it - by missing 22 and Joe and Pavlina caught back up. Then I missed 24, the last control and Pavlina got ahead of me. Sprinted after her to the finish, but wasn't going to catch her. Another Traverse finishing seconds behind Pavlina! There's always next year....

Traverse - Splits

Saturday Nov 19

Event: Little Traverse

Orienteering 20:06 [5] *** 3.2 km (6:17 / km) +80m 5:35 / km
The little blue hill sprint. Ross pretty much kicked my butt - I saw him for most of the race, but a mistake at the end cost me come time and there was no way I was going to catch him. Joe also managed to take a pretty good lead on me and dad caught me at the second to last control. It was fun, except for getting hit in the eye with a stick and now I can't see out of it properly. Everything is blurry on the right side :) Which would be ok, except I am going to see Harry Potter tonight and I need to be able to see properly! Oh, and there's the Traverse tomorrow... :)

Saturday Nov 12

road run 35:00 [3]
went running around dedham with dad

Thursday Nov 10

trail run 1:05:00 [4]
ran in the blue hills with dad. Ran a loop that we have run before but ran for 20 minutes hard in the middle. Personally, I felt like I was going to pass out. although, as I was trying not to let dad get too far ahead, I thought about how I don't think that I have ever checked the injured box, and only once or twice checked the sick box. I feel lucky to never have been injured (worst was when I twisted my ankle at WOC, but it wasn't uncomfortable enough to stop running on - just couldn't sit on it for a month). But then I was thinking that if there were an unmotivated check box - I'd be all over that.

Wednesday Nov 9

road run 1:00:13 [3]
Aujourd'hui j'ai couru sous l'obscurité et la pluie par moi-meme. Ok, so that should be close. It's been a long time since I've taken french.
C • A French Day 2

Monday Nov 7

road/trail run 33:30 [3]
mostly a trail run. I enjoy doing runs this length because I feel like I am actually running , as opposed to how I feel when I do a longer run that sometimes seems to drag on...

Sunday Nov 6

trail run 1:50:00 [3]
Dad, Ross and I drove to an orienteering map, ran around and ran part of an orange course, and then attepmted to find our way to another orienteering map close by. We took many wrong turns on the way there, but we made it. Then we spent some time on the second map looking at the field work that was recently done and discussing mapping. We were out in the woods for about 2 and a half hours, and spent an hour 50 running.

Friday Nov 4

road run 20:00 [3]
I went to visit an orienteering group that Barb has started at her children's school in Cambridge. I parked and ran over and then ran a very short course in a Harvard quad. All the children got to watch me run right past the first control - typical of me! But I corrected and I think I still beat them all.... It was fun, but my left quad is very sore - possibly from not running for 3 days and then lots of pavement running?

Thursday Nov 3

road run 53:00 [3]
just ran around my house. Didn't get too los this time :)

Wednesday Nov 2

road run 1:13:00 [3] *
ran around Newton by my lonesome with the street map.
