Friday Sep 29

trail run 15:00 [2]
Dad, Ross and I ran the race route for Sunday. We jogged for 10 minutes to warm up and then about 5 minutes at the end to finish the course.
trail run 30:00 [4]
THis was supposed to be 30 minutes at threshold pace along the trail race route. I think I was goinga bit fast, my HR was around 180. It was hard to keep a constant HR as the HR moniter wasn't giving me an accurate reading most of the time.

Thursday Sep 28

trail run 35:00 [3]
trail run over to the start (well control #4) of the Traverse. I wore my trail running shoes today and my toe was just fine :)
Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]
from 4 on until it got dark, which was around 20. Dad and I traded off legs. Pretty good navigation. My ankle felt fine, and I was too lazy to tape it before I ran. Now though it's swollen again and sore/tired feeling :(

Wednesday Sep 27

Note
I'm in danger of having all my training drop off. I orienteered last weekend, ran Tuesday and today (although not as long because my toe hurt, will explain more later). I just don't have time to log!
C • You should hire a professional... 3
road/trail run 31:00 [2]
So I drive to Dedham and dad and I got all ready to run last years Blue Hills Traverse. We get to the Blue Hills, I put on my shoes... and can only go about 3 steps. Reason being, our house is getting a new roof. Well, that's the beginning. See our house is getting a new roof, and the dumpster is in my driveway, so I can't park in it. Instead I had to park on a side street, which I can get to by cutting through my backyard and down the neighbors driveway. Well, after I parked last night I realized I left my cell phone in the car, so I went out in the dark to get it. As I was walking down the driveway I didn't see that some bricks were sticking out and I walked into them, with my foot and I was wearing flip flops. I thought I broke all my toes on my right foot, but no. I did get a cut on the top of my big toe which is what prevented me from running today because it hurt way to much being scrunched around in my o shoes. It's all because of the roofing. So dad and I turned around, drive home and just ran around the house.

Tuesday Sep 26

road/trail run 1:00:00 [2]
ran with dad down the middle of Comm Ave.

Sunday Sep 24

Orienteering 1:13:05 [4]
Long course on Sunday. I liek long courses :) I made a msitake on 3, thinking I was further along the trail than I was and then having to slug through the swamp. A little confused on a few others, but mostly ok. I used my thumb compass today as a change of pace, and I think I am faster with it, but not quite as accurate. I need to translate more of the skills I learned with my base plate to my thumb compass. Then I'll be unstoppable :) haha

Saturday Sep 23

Orienteering 17:55 [4]
Sprint race at the CNYO meet. I wasn't running super fast, but I was pretty clean. Had a little trouble on 11 (I think) - the one in the field.
Orienteering 53:06 [4]
The middle distance race. I had major problems on 5, hitting a trail not sure of which one, although now it makes sense that it was one of them. Then on 6 I didn't see that he stonewall extended and got thrown off by that. Bobbles after that as well. Just not a clean run.

Thursday Sep 21

trail run 2:01:00 [2]
A long easy tral run in the Blue Hills with Ross and dad. We used an old Blue Hills Traverse map and went near all the controls using only trails. A beautiful fall day!!

Tuesday Sep 19

trail run 29:00 [3]
A threshold run around the Wilson Mountain trail twice. HR around 178. I ran 14:30 and then 14:49. I can't quite figure out the difference except that maybe the second time my HR went up quicker and so I was slower in the beginning. Ankle is fine and only hurts when I step on something that is a bit uneven and pushes up the outside of my foot.
road run 45:00 [2]
running over to the trail with dad, and then running down the hill to begin the interval the second time.

Monday Sep 18

Note
I'll have to add in my sprints and times after I finish my grad school reading for tomorrow. RIgt now I am nursing my swollen ankle :( I think I am a wimp, but I Have never twisted anything before and nothing has ever been swollen! Today is my day off anyways, so I didn't try to run today. Walking feels fine, just awkward because I can feel that it's swollen and its all tight around the outside of my ankle.

Sunday Sep 17

Event: 2006 Sprint Series Finals

Orienteering 31:00 [4]
first sprint - lots of fun. I think I ran the most during this sprint since it was so open I didn't even have top stop to punch. A great way to start!
Orienteering 20:06 [4] 2.32 km (8:40 / km)
The second sprint of the day. This one was more in the woods, and I fearlessly led my group way off on #3. We ran around, found the two long course controls before Hill relocated and go us out of there.
Orienteering 16:20 [5] 2.43 km (6:43 / km)
(injured)
The final sprint. I had a good race, making no large errors. Since I felt like I had a good start I took some routes that were a bit longer and safer and I think that really helped in the end. I missed #2 on the second loop by going behind the wrong building, but otherwise it was a great sprint!

Sprint #1 - short - Splits

Sprint #2 - short - Splits

Sprint FINAL - short - Splits

Saturday Sep 16

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]
ran the farsta today. Took it easy and had a fun time. I was doing really quite well using compass and pacing to get me through the vague terrain, but I made one big mistakes reading the stream wrong on my second loop and that shook me enough that I tried to go from 5 to 7. Luckily I realized it about a bit, but still disconcerning!
Orienteering 32:00 [2]
Hill and I did the intermediate night-o together... :) It was fun, but it's hard to orienteer with someone else, though I was grateful for another light!

Thursday Sep 14

road run 35:00 [2]
Ross was with friends and dad was busy working on the apartment to come to thte track with me. So I ran to the track alone :)
track workout 13:00 [3]
I ran 4 800s with 30 seconds of jogging rest between them. times were 3:05, 3:08, 3:08, 3:09 ( I think ).

Wednesday Sep 13

trail run 31:00 [2]
ran with Pia and Ross this morning at 6:15 at Hammond Pond.
C • 6:15 AM? nice job. 4

Tuesday Sep 12

road/trail run 53:00 [3]
ran with dad down the grass section of Comm. Ave. Run was short because I had to get to class, and runs on Tuesday will now be shorter because class will start at 6:00, not 6:45.

Sunday Sep 10

other (canoeing) 1:02:00 [1]
Ross and I did the canoe-o. It was a lot of fun, and we had never done one before together. We came in 2 minutes overtime, which isn't so bad :)
Orienteering 1:29:40 [4]
Today I felt like I was moving quite faster than yesterday, and I think that was due to the woods being more open. I also was moving more smoothly through controls, although still having trouble trying to read inside the circle.

Saturday Sep 9

Orienteering 1:41:53 [3]
I had a tough time during this race. I was slow getting into it and I just couldn't feel the flow of running - probably a lot of that was due to the thick woods. Beautiful weather though!
C • And I hear you might have met ... 4

Blue day 1 - Splits

Friday Sep 8

road run 35:00 [2]
running to and fram the track with dad and Ross. I complained about my quads and hips hurting (although I don't know what from).
track workout 19:00 [3]
ran 6x800 with 30-40 seconds of rest between. At a good pace, but slow enough so I could read the map while running.

Thursday Sep 7

road/trail run 25:00 [1]
After stopping by my house from work on the way to class, I checked my schedule only to realize that I don't really have class this evening. It's monday evening. I think I'm losing brain cells in my stress, but this makes me laugh :) I realize I can now go running, which makes me feel better for waking up to my alarm at 6:30 and prompting resetting it for 7:00 and going back to sleep :) (oops).

This is the warm up to cold spring park, the jogging between the intervals and the jogging to meet Dan and Ross to join them in playing frisbee :)
trail run 12:00 [4]
did 6x2 mins with 1 minute of jogging rest between. I wasn't going quite all out, I think because I was afraid of running into dogs on the trail, but it was a hard effort.

Wednesday Sep 6

road run 20:00 [1]
So I actually woke up early to go running this morning, since I knew I would have class all evening. Of course it was for 20 minutes so it really doesn't help my training...

I thought I would be able to train and go to grad school at the same time. I sadly misled myself. As I am now picking up another class this semester, I won't be able to run on Wednesdays or Thursdays and I've been a total slacker on my training recently. So yeah, on the train to falling out of shape..... C'est la vie I suppose.
C • training while really busy 12

Tuesday Sep 5

road biking 1:20:00 [2]
to Newton's farmers market rom Dedham

Sunday Sep 3

lifting/strength 25:00 [1]
pilates with Em again this morning, plus more lifting.
trail run 2:05:05 [2]
a long trail run in the Blue Hills with dad. My legs were sore after an hour, but I managed to make it back :) There was no avoiding the rain today, so we got a bit wet. It's still summer darn it!

Saturday Sep 2

lifting/strength 20:00 [1]
pilates with Emily :)
