Tuesday Jul 31 |
 | Orienteering 1:07:00 [2] | |
| |
| Dad, Hill and I drove the hour to Baldwin Hill, and ran a course that Dad designed. Hill and I ran the course frontwards, hanging streamers, and dad ran it backwards, hanging streamers. It was a lot easier to do when the streamers were already hung! |
 | Orienteering 56:00 [2] | |
| |
| Went out on the same course again, to pick up streamers. It was easier the second time, except for #6, which I nailed the first time and got hopelessly lost on the second time. |
| |
| C • Cool--you're back! 5 |
Monday Jul 30 |
 | road run 30:00 [2] | |
| |
| running to the Dedham track with Hill, to do the same workout as last week. |
 | track workout 9:00 [4] | |
| |
| Hill and I ran 3x800, each one 5 seconds faster with about 3.5 minutes rest. Aiming for 2:50, 2:45, 2:40. Last week I made the first 2 times, but ran 2:41 on the last 800. This week we were 2:48, 2:43, 2:39. Oh yeah, take that. Then we did 4x200, at 34, 36, 36, 38. Hot and humid.
It's rather daunting to start logging again.... |
Friday Jul 27 |
 | Note | |
| |
| yeah, someday when I actually have free time in my life I will begin logging and and even back log (or so I think now). Hopefully I'll begin next week? I feel like I have missed out on so much! :) |
| |
| C • We've missed you! 4 |
 | trail run 40:00 [1] | |
| |
| chasing around my student out in the Needham Town Forest. I send them out in pairs and then I run around onthe trails trying to mkae sure they don't get lost. It's rather worrisome when I see my assistant out running and he's loke, "haven't seen Jake in awhile." and I'm like, "yeah, me neither.... oh well, he couldn't be that lost." and my assistant says, "no, probably not." and we both go running off. |
 | trail run 30:00 [2] | |
| |
| Jogging around in the Needham Town Forest after my kids left to pick up some stray streamers. The horseflys were horrible though, so it wasn't the most enjoyable run. |

Thursday Jul 26 |
 | trail run 50:00 [1] | |
| |
| Setting out and picking up controls at the Needham Town Forest for my students. Then running around on the trails trying not to lose them. |
 | Orienteering 11:30 [4] | |
| |
| Ross set a short sprint at Hammond Pond to run for this week's training. I ran it once, and was going to run it again, but people were being stung by bees and I was having much more fun standing around at the start/finish area chatting with people and catching up :) |
Wednesday Jul 25 |
 | Orienteering 32:00 [3] | |
| |
| After the interview with the Transcript, Hill, Dad and I ran different legs from the old relay course in the Bue Hills. Got a bit confussed on #2, stopping too short and then not reading the contours correctly. |
Tuesday Jul 24 |
 | Orienteering 6:40 [1] | |
| |
| warm up jog before the "sprint" course at Regis College woods. |
 | Orienteering 54:00 [3] | |
| |
| O- course at Regis College woods. It was thick and difficult to move quickly. We really had to slow down in some places, especially the few times the person leading lost their way. |
Monday Jul 23 |
 | road run 30:00 [1] | |
| |
| running to and from the dedham track with dad and Hill. |
 | track workout 10:00 [4] | |
| |
| First, ran 3 800s, each getting faster. Aiming for 2:50, 2:45, 2:40. 3 minutes rest. Seeing as my PR in high school was 2:28, I was a bit worried. We ran the first 2 pretty much right on, but then I was 2:41 for the last one. Hill was leading the last 800 and we started out way too fast, which I think killed me.
Then 4x200 around 39, then 1 400 at 75. |
Sunday Jul 22 |
 | trail run 1:56:00 [2] | |
| |
| Long run with Hill in the Blue Hills, running almost all of the long skyline loop (we skipped one hill). We also screamed like girls when we saw a snake in the trail. It was squirming back and forth because it was between Hill and I and it couldn't find a good way off the trail. We screamed, jumped around a lot, sprinted away, then collapsed in hysterical laughter. |
Saturday Jul 21 |
 | road run 40:40 [1] | |
| |
| easy run with Hill around Dedham. |
Friday Jul 20 |
 | Note | |
| |
| traveling from LA to Boston. |
Thursday Jul 19 |
 | road run 48:00 [1] | |
| |
| Running around the streets of LA. I told myself this would be even a shorter run than it was - but then I got lost! I was running from my friend's house, but on the way back I missed a turn, and I realized I didn't know the name ofher street! After running around in a slight panic, I saw a sign that I recognized and made it back. I never want to live in LA. Not runner friendly. |
Wednesday Jul 18 |
 | Note | |
| |
| Longest day ever. Spent most of traveling from Sydney to LA. |
Tuesday Jul 17 |
 | road/trail run 30:00 [1] | |
| |
| warm up and cool down for threshold. |
 | road/trail run 20:00 [3] | |
| |
| Threshold run around Sydney - the trail by the harbor and through the botanical gardens. |
Monday Jul 16 |
 | road/trail run 1:10:00 [2] | |
| |
| A really nice run around Syydney. I went running at around 1 pm, and the route around the water was covered with other runners! It made me feel very at home. Ran around the harbor, through the botanical gardens, by the opera house and through the red light district. A fun siteseeing run. The weather was also perfect - sunny and around 60 degrees. So much better then Dubbo! |
Sunday Jul 15 |
 | Note | |
| |
| Spent the day driving from Dubbo back to Sydney. Stopped and hiked a bit in the Blue Mountains. |
Saturday Jul 14 |
 | Orienteering 38:00 [4] | |
| |
| Ran under Arwen Wyatt-Mair's name in the Australian Long O champs. Arwen won F21AS. Oh yeah. Rocking the short course. |
 | trail run 20:00 [1] | |
| |
| ran around the parking lot for warm up and cool down. |
Friday Jul 13 |
 | trail run 31:00 [4] | |
| |
| Coaches Race after the relay. I think this is about how long it took. I ran one leg of the woman's relay and was the first woman back :) |
Wednesday Jul 11 |
 | trail run 32:00 [3] | |
| |
| Got Ross off the couch to come with me for a fast run along the river. |
Tuesday Jul 10 |
 | trail run 30:05 [3] | |
| |
| Ross and I tried to run the spectator races, but upon arrival were told that we could not because we were coaches. It was relaly annoying especially because we were now at the event site without a way home. After waiting by the side of the road for awhile, I decided to just run down the road and do intervals and Ross would hail the first car. I did the 1 minue on, 1 minute on, 30 seconds on 30 seconds off intervals. I don't remember how many times. Probably 5? |
Sunday Jul 8 |
 | trail run 21:30 [1] | |
| |
| warm up and cool down for intervals. Behind where we were staying there was a paved bike path that ran along the river on both sides. It was nice to have that to run on. |
 | trail run (intervals) 24:00 [4] | |
| |
| 4 minutes on and 3 minutes off. 4 times. |
Saturday Jul 7 |
| |
| Event: JWOC 2007 |
 | Orienteering 40:24 [3] | |
| |
| JWOC model event. Nice map, although some of the terrain was crappy. Downed trees and stuff along the hillside. I wish I could really race in it though! Technical and fast. The rocks underfoot add a good challenge of not falling and dying :) |
Friday Jul 6 |
 | trail run 26:00 [1] | |
| |
| I don't remember doing this, but I ran short quick intervals on this day. This was the warm up, cool down and inbetween time. |
 | trail run 6:00 [5] | |
| |
| Four times of:
1 minute on, 1 minute off, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, repeat :) |
Thursday Jul 5 |
 | Note | |
| |
| It was raining when we woke up and when we went to bed. We actually drove to the training, helped push other cars and vans out of the mud and decided that it was too cold and rainy for us to run. Plus we had to park far away from the map because of the mud and we had already run on this map. We called it a day. |
Wednesday Jul 4 |
 | Orienteering 1:07:00 [2] | |
| |
| So I know this was orienteering, and I know how long I was out there, and I have splits, but I can't remember the course. I'm sure it was cold, rainy and rocky though. I probably saw sheep. |
Tuesday Jul 3 |
 | Orienteering 21:30 [4] | |
| |
| I think this is the day where I didn't do morning training because I felt too sick. I got another bad throat disease that was quite painful. I think I went through about 40 Ibuprophen in less than a week,. Then in the afternoon we did another sprint course. I got stuck in some green, that I should have seen coming. |
Monday Jul 2 |
 | Orienteering 2:03:12 [2] | |
| |
| A long O course. I planned on doing more controls but I was getting so lost that this took me awhile. I never did find #1, and I struggled greatly on the controls at the end of the course. I would get close, but then the detialed rock areas would throw me off and I would be wandering around near the control, but not finding it. Not a day to inspire confidence. |
Sunday Jul 1 |
 | Orienteering 49:00 [3] | |
| |
| Running pretty hard, trying to do atleast 4 minutes of a fast pace, and then slowing down. A fun, but challenging, course. Some of the terrain was beautiful! The rest was covered in fallen trees and vines. |
 | Orienteering 15:00 [4] | |
| |
| A sprint course in the afternoon plus 3 200s. It was hard to get going because of the cold, and then even though I drew the courses for everyone, I tried to run to the wrong control. That stopped me for a moment as I tried to work my brain around what I was doing. Lots of fence jumping. |
