Sunday Nov 19

Event: NEOC: Blue Hills Traverse

Orienteering 2:13:18 [4]
Blue Hills Traverse. It was fun, but more painful than I remember tha last few years being - I think it's because I have been running less this October and Novemeber - combination of classes and being careful of my ankle. Ankle felt alright - still not healed but wasn't hurting nearly as much as the Highlander where I thought I wasn't going to make it through.

I made a mistake on 5 and 20 (probably others, but those I can remember). On 5 I actually pulled away from the group I was with as I took a better route choice and then their mistake was worse than mine. I saw Ernst leaving 20, but then I messed around in that area for awhile, finally attacking the control from below and through the briars. I saw JJ coming into the control as I was leaving, but stayed ahead of him as I went right around the hill. I didn't realize I was so close to Ernst at the end, but I was pretty spent and it would have been difficult to move much faster.

I had a good race, but not a spectacular one. I was 4th overall, and not too far behind Ross and John at the first check point (3.5 minutes behind after about 6 K). Pavi wasn't there this year to give me a run for my money, which helped me achieve another one of my goals this year - being first woman in the Billygoat, Highlander and Traverse!

I would enter my splits now, but that would just be more procrastinating on writing my paper tha is due tomorrow, sigh.

Traverse - Splits

Saturday Nov 18

road/trail run 37:17 [2]
ran to Cold Spring Park with Ross and did the Exercise trail :) This is only the running part of it. I didn't really work hard enough on the equiptment to warrent counting it - I didn't want to be sore for tomorrow :)

Friday Nov 17

rowing machine 20:00 [3]
the car broke down on the way to orienteering in the Blue Hills and we had to be towed home. It was dark by the time we returned, so I just rowed. I pulled for 1 minute as hard as I could 2 times.

Thursday Nov 16

road run 24:00 [2]
my warm up and cool down. By the end of the cool down it was too dark to see the map! I got home late from work today and so had little time when it was still daylight.
road run 9:00 [4]
2 times around Stoney Lea. I ran 4 halves of it really, stopping for about 30 seconds rest between to look at the next leg in the map I was carrying. Each lap was about 1200m and I was running it in about 4:30.

Tuesday Nov 14

road run 51:00 [2]
running over to Wilson Mountain with dad and then running home arfterwards. We did take the long route n the way there.
trail run 13:48 [4]
I think this may be one of the fastest time I have ever run on this loop. And I slowed down in the middle a bit because dogs started chasing dad. Silly dog owners.
